By n8 dogg Go To PostJust played at Cannes rightI think it’s the case of the directors first being ignored by the critics and they are overcompensating by giving her this award
Apparently the palme winner is madness
Raw is an incredible film but everything I hear about Titana sounds awful

yes on both
"The Best G.I. movie yet" is definitely some great praise given the rich past of the franchise. Also 3 of the 4 quotes are from the same guy from Screen Rant and the other is from The Nerds Of Color, who have the most basic Wordpress site ever.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostIt's going to hurt when Dune bombs and we don't get any sequels.Lets worry about its quality first
By LFMartins86 Go To PostIt's going to hurt when Dune bombs and we don't get any sequels.Apparently the script doesn't even cover the entirety of the first book
dune would be one of the movies where i wouldnt mind if they said theyre just shooting the first 4 books at once, cuz, phew

Surely after Blade Runner both the studio and the director have no illusions about how much this is likely to gross.
Surely there's contractual safeguards in place that guarantee Denis gets to finish his Dune (trilogy?).
Surely.

Maybe it’s cause my kids liked it a lot and finding stuff that I also like it tough, but I enjoyed the new space jam.
Feel like I've completely missed out on Studio Ghilbi films so want to start watching them (haven't seen any yet, lol)
Do I start from the beginning with Castle in the Sky or do I start with Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (apparently it's technically not a Ghibli film?)
Pls advise, film SLAENT

Grave of the Fireflies is potentially one you can skip. It's great. But the subject matter is harrowing.

They played that film as a double feature in Japan with My Neighbour Totoro. They didn’t tell the cinemas which order to play them, so some played it first and some played it second.
By Lunatic Go To PostPB trying to send Dean into depression.lol, I don't mind depressing films! But I wanted to start from the beginning so I'm going to go with CITS first
Grave of the Fireflies is the closest to a "standard" plot structure you'd be used to, as the other movies are borderline wacky in their story mechanics and pacing. However IDK if you're ready to be depressed for the next 6 months.
But, I say How's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Spirited Away.

By DY_nasty Go To Postall time classicsThe pacing of the end of the book is so crazy fast in comparison to the first 4/5ths of the book. Feels like there's 30% of plot crammed into 5% of reading time.
also sleepy as fuck

By DY_nasty Go To Posti respect world building more than most but dune is a big yikesTwo super hype sections though:
1. Duke Leto takeover RIP
2. The final battle
But again, all of that happens over the course of like 8 pages
The first Dune book is still the "best" but if you've got the time, sure read them.
But nowadays there's better sci fi series to read imo.
