Those Who Wish Me Dead
Not very good at all. Taylor, what happened? And the two other people credited on the story...what did they contribute? Beast and Little Finger tracking Angelina and some kid in Montana during a forest fire has to be more interesting than this!

it is quite funny to me that now that cinemas are open and movies are coming out they are all delayed to later in the summer in europe because of the Euro.

Everybody seemed to be working for the paycheck and nothing else. The cheap 90s style action was awful, the villains were some sunday morning cartoon joke, and Angelina left an awful impression every time she was on... is she even human anymore?
Did a double bill at the cinema today.
First up was After Love, a quiet, devastating film about a British Muslim convert whose husband dies unexpectedly (it's left unexplained which is great). She then discovers he had another life in France and sets out to find about it.
The acting, across the board, is top-notch here, obv the main praise must go to Joanna Scanlon as the grieving wife. I had no idea Terri from the Thick of it could be this good at acting, lol. She's really, really good. The subtleties of having to handle a role like that and succeeding are nothing short of brilliant and deserve major awards contention.
There are some problems with the film i.e. it took a while to get going and it's a little on the nose visually, but for a debut feature, I was impressed.
3/5
Next up was First Cow. Now, having not seen any other Kelly Reinhardt films and going in blind, I pretty much had no idea what to expect. I was not expecting a film about the power of friendship and baking scones, lmao. It was lovely to just sit and watch two dudes go through life together and genuinely liking each other too. There's not really a "plot' to speak of, it's more of a character study. The whole thing felt like a Coens and Malick mash-up lol, I really liked it. It might be a film that'll grow on me over time too.
4/5

Trailer was sort of neat, but doesn't seem like my kind of joint.
Got a limitless pass at the fancy Odeon Luxe by my flat. Trying to decide what to actually see though

By Hitch Go To PostReservoir Dogs would be much better if Tarantino wasn't in it, and he only has about five lines and a minute of screen time
that was when he still thought he could act. and you just reminded me of his pulp fiction bit.
that was so fucking bad.
By bud Go To Postthat was when he still thought he could act. and you just reminded me of his pulp fiction bit.Wait till you remember his Australian accent in Django,
that was so fucking bad.
that movie looks so '90s by the way. i love that look.
and that call between jules and marcellus is so good. ving rhames was really good in this.
what a movie.

what a movie.
It's mental how good a film-maker he is, and how he brings out such great performances from his actors, but he let himself stick out so clearly in his own films. Wonder if it's arrogance, obliviousness, or he just thought it would be funny.
Gonna rewatch Pulp Fiction in the next couple of days, and will watch Once Upon A Time In Hollywood at some point as well.

Best American director

Fuller about to run up a 175m budget for a 13m weekend. Just keep saying the comp is "It Chapter Two" Bry
Not sure what to think about Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
Part sweet friendship, part mildly interesting career story, part tension, part farce, all wankpiece.

that ending action scene was great though.

It even has Bruce Willis still giving a shit.
By reilo Go To PostThe casting is A1.I was thinking during the film 'if Tarantino got Willis on board, would he suddenly give a shit again?'
It even has Bruce Willis still giving a shit.
@FF, watched it once when I was like 14, for some reason had it in my head since that Butch is a protagonist and Vincent an antagonist. Think I must have had a much more black or white view of the world back then.
Pawn shop scene feels like it was supposed to be in a different film, and takes more away from the film than it adds.
Watched A Quiet Place as well earlier, good film. Jim Krasinski looks like Alisson.
I could leave a bunch of Tarantino stuff but something about Pulp Fiction just makes me lol every time.
By Hitch Go To PostI was thinking during the film 'if Tarantino got Willis on board, would he suddenly give a shit again?'I think Bruce is to far gone on the "not give a shit" level.
How many years has it been? I think it's been since RED that he sort of gave a shit.
He's been making direct to dvd/streaming movies for years now, just cashing that check.
The last time I saw Willis give a shit was in Unbreakable.
I liked Looper but can't really remember if Willis was good in it, lol

By sohois Go To PostWillis was decent in Looper, that was 2012. Did anyone see Glass?I did. Wasn't great but he wasn't terrible on it.
