watched promising young woman last night and thought it was decent. i cant really put my finger on my problems with it though... feels a bit incohesive despite being very straight forward. feels like you're watching a collection of scenes quite often, rather than watching a film...
ending was terrible as well i couldnt believe the fucking schedueled text shit then zooming in on the ;) was how someone wanted to end that film
also, TIL carey mulligan is english

Mulligan pretty much carries the film, she elevated the heavy-handed script:

By RATHasReturned Go To PostI've seen a lot of female reviewers saying they were wrecked by how Promising Young Woman ended. That's what happens. Monsters like that just get chance after chance and women suffer for it, even the ones who fight back.
I haven't seen it yet, but may just have to plunk down $19.99 to find out what's going on.
Edit:
See ya in 1 hour, 53 minutes.

Promising Young Woman is fucking brilliant. I have no complaints about the ending or how it was designed. It's in line with how the movies opening titles are presented. I was FLOORED by this film. I needed about 5 minutes to be at peace which what happens and how it wrapped up and then I was completely on board with that decision. I'm happy that I rented this on Vudu in 4K HDR.
And watch "Shame" which also features Carey Mulligan of you haven't already.
Plus, the black guy running away is the funniest moment in film of 2020/2021.

Watched Outside The Wire yesterday, because I need to justify paying for Netflix. It's bad. I can't believe someone is still writing 'eastern terrorists with Russian nukes' scripts in 2020. And that people greenlight it.
Anthony Mackie is not going to make it as Captain America.

Watched Druk (Another Round). Was decent, not as bad as most other Danish movies in the last 10 years. Mads Mikkelsen and Thomas Bo Larsen are good fun.

By Punished* Go To PostWhat are the bad Danish movies of the decade?
Almost every single one. We are masters of boring and pointless social realism.
I've liked quite a few Danish films I've seen in recent years. The Hunt, A Hijacking, The Act of Killing, and A Royal Affair. Best Scandinavian film in recent years is Oslo, August 31, Force Majeure, or Headhunters.

arent all of those like almost 10 years old? feels bad. Best danish movies were around 98 to 2000, many of the dogme 95 movies imo(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogme_95 ) Festen and Idioterne some of the best danish movies.

Synchronic was actually ok. And Jamie Dornan can actually act, who knew?
Ending was a bit of a let down.
Promising Young Woman was okay. Wasn't really feeling the movie so I enjoyed the ending a lot more than some people apparently? Not sure what they were expecting to happen, the film became fantastical af very quickly.
Still world's better than Gone Girl though
