By Pedja Go To PostI thought Depp was great in Donnie BrascoHe's decent but he's outacted by Pacino, lol (tbf, every actor would be)
By Lupercal Go To PostYep, Black Mass was also a great role for him.Haven't seen the whole film, but he was okay from what I saw
By Kuma Go To PostThinking more on MK, Cole Young didnt need to be in the movie. In a franchise that’s been around 30 years or so, there’s an endless amount of characters you can use.
Yet you make some character who’s “arcana” is “armor, which isn’t even fully explained. Does it let him just tank hits?
Yeah MK was even worse than I thought it would be. Well the first half of it at least. Couldn't bother watching more
By post-sy Go To Post….you guys saw the trailer right?
I did but I was bored and felt like cock and ball torture just didnt do it for me that day.

Amazed this isn't an Onion article.
Later, watching “Nomadland,” he saw similar shots. “Oh! That is not just what she wanted to bring to Marvel,” he remembers thinking. “This is a signature style.”Not trying to shit on her cause it's well shot but dawg c'mon. Bunch of UK detective series I watch got better cinematography than a lot of Hollywood shit.
By n8 dogg Go To Postfeige blown away by photo of pondHas to be more to it.
This is people already hating on the guy having confirmation bias to continue hating on him unless I get more context. Doesn't mean dude is in awe of practical shots lol.

Kev long forgot what a movie without vfx shots looks like
By Pedja Go To PostMartins is going to go on a banning spreeNah, it’s a very divisive movie. I still want to watch it again and I am day one for a sequel.
Speaking of that, Ryan Reynolds has joked about the fans wanting him to play Johnny Cage.
By Pedja Go To PostI thought Depp was great in Donnie BrascoYeah he was
MK was aight. Felt like something the studio didn’t totally believe in but they know there’s a big bag at the end of the road with the loose ends. So much of this was unnecessary.
Whoever is helming this and the sequel need to watch Bloodsport and Enter the Dragon about 50 times and study it like there’s a test at the end

By post-sy Go To PostAwful actor for awful movie in awful franchise

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostGive Cole the Johnny Cage MK Annihilation treatment and have a proper tournament next time.According to one of the screenwriters, they planned for a trilogy with the first movie being pre tournament, the second being the proper tournament and the third after the tournament.

they just don't make 'em like that anymore
By LabouredPatriot Go To PostThat looks like a really nice transfer. Blu Ray?
yep
MK kept me enticed for the first 10 mins.
And obviously memory is usually clouded, but I think I prefer the original tbh (not that is saying much either) 🤷♂️

One of my favorite movies right here
Gonna watch it tonight I think.
Dante's Peak is a bit weird. I kinda liked it before the volcano erupted, nice slow build and enjoyable little character interactions, then I was bored out of my mind when the shit hit the fan. Think I might have just gone off of endless reams of action sequences, seen a shitload of films in the last year or so where I've not enjoyed the second halves anywhere near as much as the first as the character work and stories go out the window. Even films where said story and character work is by-the-numbers, or even bad, I need a regular dose of it.
Found Demolition Man to be surprisingly restrained in that regard.

legacy film watcher here.
a lot of movies before the 00s looked so good.
the best comparison i can make is coming to america and its sequel.
the original has a beautiful, natural look to it whereas the sequel looks completely flat.

By bud Go To Posta lot of movies before the 00s looked so good.Someone needs to bring back fog machines.
By bud Go To Postlegacy film watcher here.A lot of older films are shot on location - newer ones are packed with green/blue screens - even simple locations like city streets, coffee shops and offices. And because modern TVs now upscale resolutions past what these scenes are shot at - they seem more saturated and and uncanny.

I think Nolan is one of the few directors who still shoots on location.
Yeah, on location shooting makes a ton of difference.
It’s one of the things that makes like Tarsem Singh’s The Fall. It’s such a gorgeous movie.

They also tend to use more practical effects.
It's why LOTR holds up visually but Hobbit does not despite the latter being a decade newer.
