Wanted to watch MK, I (re)watched Prisoners instead. Phenomenal film, I didn't appreciate it enough. Looked amazing on the OLED too with all those darks, despite only being in 1080p. There's no 4K version, is there?

Think the signs look good for a sequel. It was already at 20M$ WW last weekend, it’s heading to a 19M$ opening weekend in the US (did 9M$ on Friday), should be doing well on HBO Max and it’s opening on a bunch of markets this week.
Budget apparently was 55M$, the trailer led to a raise in sales of the game and the movie might do a bit also so I think WB will give it another go.
They already have the cast locked on a 4 movie contract (at least Joe Taslim) so that’s a good sign.

I liked it. It was a bad movie, but I expected that from an MK movie, it's true to the game and previous movies.
They sidelined Liu Kang a little too much though

I thought that main character was like 3 different characters haha, random choice but I guess they wanted a newbie/nobody as the lead
Should’ve been Kung Lao and Liu if it was a trilogy from the start
Was alright, expected much worse

Promising Young Woman was a kick to the teeth. Won’t forget it so soon, that’s for sure, what a movie.
By Perfect Blue Go To Postokay yeah this is the best film I've seen of 2020
Any of y'all seen this yet? Going to rent it this weekend.
By n8 dogg Go To PostParasite is great but I swear people act like it’s the only foreign movie they’ve ever seen.curious:
Hurt Locker is about 60 places too high.
have any of you guys watched The Secret in Their Eyes (El secreto de sus ojos) (2009)?

Enjoyed Chicago Seven well enough; good rattatat Sorkin dialogue, some good performances (particularly SBC, YAM and Rylance), was funny and informative. Not a best picture winner, just a pretty good film.
Doesn’t strike me as much different than Tarantino’s or Iannucci’s in style (the quality is another matter...)
I think newsroom really made me hate his shit. Curmudgeonly old man who writes fast but largely meaningless dialogue
He is massively up his own arse, undeniably. Good with actors I think. Didn’t think much of Molly’s Game but some good performances.

MK beat expectations at the Box Office with a 22.5M$ OW, the best predictions had it at 2OM$ with the more conservative at 15M$.
Waiting for the WW numbers but I am getting more positive about a sequel.
There are some rumours going around that WB has given the go ahead for the sequel and they went a big name actor to play Cage.
There’s also some talk about a possible HBO Max show.

I was not ready for Cole Young.
He didn't single-handedly ruin the move, but he had a fucking good go at it.

By LabouredPatriot Go To PostWondering whether to watch The Rock or The Highlander movies later.Hair toady, Conn tomorrow
Minari was good. Considering the backlash around The Farewell last year I think the Oscar's might try to repent by giving it to Minari.
It's going to be that or Nomadland.

By Kidjr Go To PostQuantum of Solace gets such a unfairly bad rep imo.it’s a bad film that’s still better than about 20 entires in the series imo.
By Perfect Blue Go To Postit’s a bad film that’s still better than about 20 entires in the series imo. Most of the Bond movies are so bad that you could argue QoS is Top 5 lol

By Pennywise Go To PostNot even in the top 5 war movies.
post your top three, penneh.
for me, in no particular order:
das boot
the thin red line
apocalypse now (theatrical cut)
By FortuneFaded Go To PostThere's about a million war movies.Well it's not within top 10 either. Might not even be within top 15.
Found it pretty boring overall. Was visually pretty nice, but that's about it.
Also if you count out the "we're the good guys" war movies, you'll cut the majority of war movies.
1917 was more about the no cut gimmick than anything else.
fine movie, gorgeous at times but very forgettable.

Apocalypse Now is surely a part of it. Think The Pianist would also be part of it.
