By Daz Go To PostYour 65" or 77" oleds can't fill the gap left by the cinema. Don't @ me with obscene speaker systems and Dobby Atmospheres.
Disagree. The PQ for sure isn't better, even when going to a Dolby cinema screening. The sound is a wash. So really it's the aspect of watching a movie with strangers, and I'm good on that
By FootbalIFan Go To PostThey're doing $7 movie, popcorn and drink deal hereGet in, FF!
Incredible value
I'd say PQ is better on my TV at this point, sound isn't.
Well, depending on what cinema I compare to. The best around me blows my system out of the water, the worst may as well be two cups with string

To get equivalent/slightly better PQ in movie theater I gotta plop down $20+ for the high-end Atmos living room theaters.
And even then you can see the texture of the screen itself in certain brighter scenes.

Home will always be superior to the movies cause I don't have to worry about someone potentially fighting me or shooting me cause I told them to stop talking behind me.
i have an amazing theater next to my work place and english showings are mostly empty outside of opening weekend but people here don't really talk a lot anyway.
I go to the cinema for the social aspect of it, and I miss that. the best home theater setup won't beat that.

Nothing beats a monday morning double feature at the movies imo. Did that through my college years and it was the best movie watching experience. I hate packed theaters.
By DY_nasty Go To Postmovie theaters are best when they're emptyNah premium theatres with reserved adjustable reclining seats with food and alcohol service are the best.

By Smokey Go To PostGodzilla v Kong was a good time. Was a spectale on the HT setup. I'd be ok with not going back to a theater tbh
Breh it was rad. Only reason to go to theater is for IMAX or kids
By Lunatic Go To PostNah premium theatres with reserved adjustable reclining seats with food and alcohol service are the best.Premium screens are nice and comfy, but I can do without a waiter coming in every 15 minutes or the cunts behind you munching on their sushi during the movie. Just go to a bar.

It's crazy how cinemas decided worldwide to sell the loudest snacks imaginable.
Who decided popcorn was the defacto movie watching snack?

Cheap to buy and make, and easy to sell a large amount of it to someone without them realizing they're paying 1000x markup.
I really like the alamo drafthouse in LA, I can reconcile the priciness if I count it as dinner out. Social aspect is fun.
Otherwise yeah I get the same experience on my TV thank you very much, movie purists are almost as bad as music ones

I watch my films on Putlocker and sit two feet from my TV, with no sound system. Watched Return of the King while eating reheated Papa John's.

I think I really got in to watching movies when I first got a PSP and put CFW on it.
I'd watch at least one movie a night when I was in bed, hiding the screen under the covers.

Only issue I have with movies is someone taking my seats. I already walk into the auditorium with my phone open to my tickets cuz there’s always some dumbass that decided it’s first come first serve

Just saw Godzilla Vs. Kong. Happy this movie exists
Stupid like a Dark Horse comic I would've read in 1997. Just missing the narration bubbles. 99/100

Enjoyed Thief (1981) quite a bit, very stylish and realistic.
You can see the beginnings of Heat in it, and James Caan is really good in this film. The diner scene is an all-timer for him. Wonderful monologue. Liked the simplicity of the script too.
Really need to see Mann's other work, think I've only seen a few.

Some conservative propaganda

The director/producer/writer/actor was just on Newsmax promoting this. He was once engaged to Sofía Vergara and a year after they broke up, he did this

On April 29, 2015, The New York Times published an op-ed written by Loeb in which he argued that he should be allowed to unilaterally use the frozen embryos he created via in-vitro fertilization with Vergara, despite having previously signed an agreement stipulating that nothing could be done to the embryos without the consent of both of them, stating "Give them the right to live." Vergara's attorney has stated that Vergara wants the embryos to remain frozen. Loeb argues that the agreement – which did not expressly state what would happen to the embryos if the couple separated, a requirement under California law – should be voided.
In 2016, Loeb dropped his case, though it was refiled the day after in Louisiana with the embryos as plaintiffs. In August 2017, a Louisiana Judge dismissed the case with the argument that the court had no jurisdiction over the embryos, which were conceived in California.

Godzilla vs Kong plot dumb af at 100, but man they finally delivered on the end battle we've all wanted.
HOWEVER,
They got the most unintentionally funny scene of all time.

Couldn't get into GvK at all because of how incredibly stupid and unfunny it was. Battles were cool tho.

It's also an interesting movie in terms of Box Office performance. Despite being available to watch at home, high quality pirated releases online and high restrictions due to Covid, GvsK is on it's way to beat KOTM's worldwide box office numbers.
It's also probably a big success for HBO Max so it could be proof that same day or small theatrical windows won't be the death of cinemas.
