The film is... fine. Script isn’t good at all. Lots of weightless CGI action. Some bizarre non-sequiturs like the Manhunter scenes. I thought the first 40-45 mins were the best before it became a superhero team up to stop the bastard film. Glad it exists tho. Let directors make shit they want to.
aquaman was ok. I kept thinking they were gonna do something interesting with the plot that didn't end with arthur being king but nope. Just went from "i dont wanna be king, i don't even know yall" then "ok im king fuck yeah". Thought he'd end up giving it to the redhead or something.
some pretty shots and cool fights though. Funny enough, the best visuals were in the end credits sequence.

By Hitch Go To PostJust watched Aquaman because of you cuntsGotta subtract 20-30% for the Marvel bump, gets you closer to the standalone quality of the film
It's very good by superhero film standards. Will probably watch Justice League in two sittings.
65% on rotten tomatoes, Dr strange got 89%
Not having it.
I should get around to watching all of Kon's stuff. I've only ever seen Paprika and a few episodes of Paranoia agent. From what I've seen of the rest, they're worth watching for the animation alone
😳
This picture is all the more shocking because he looks middle aged in the Kurosawa movies in the following years.

Nolan and Aronofsky ripped him off hardcore
Millennium Actress is secretly the best one but you have to be read up on Japanese film history to really appreciate how obsessed he was with Setsuko Hara.
Just watched Aquaman. It's decent, better than the other DCEU films I've seen. Wan has a great eye for action, some shots were great. I imagine it looks amazing on an OLED too, looked great on the ISIS telly.
Bit surprised they're sticking with Heard for the sequel 👀

I never watched the original Justice League and watched the 4 hour one last night, but after watching RLM talk about it for one hour I'm totally stunned at how different of a movie it is. When hearing about a different cut of it I was expecting them to take out some of the jokes, add some additional scenes, turn down the contrast and call it a day. Really an interesting moment in movie history to me.
I saw the theatrical cut of JL when it came out and it was fucking terrible.
I've watched almost 2 hours of the Synder cut so far (stopped at the Part 4 title card) and it's way more cohesive of a film and way more watchable but still pretty terrible. Far too much slow-mo and bizarre music choices. The Barry Allen scene where he saves Iris is the best scene I've seen so far and that's because it was interesting to watch someone as fast as him actually make decisions when time slows down and there's no dialogue, it's purely all visual which is the best thing Synder does as a director tbh.
Will watch the rest sometime this week.

Saw the Snyder Cut in two seatings, first half on Saturday (stopped at the title card for Chapter 4) and the second half last night. I won't say it is a great movie but I really liked it.
It's night and day from the theatrical cut. Definitely worth a watch.

By data Go To PostI kind of want to watch both back to back . I've never seen eitherI would just watch the Snyder cut one if you're really interested.
Watching the Whedon one will probably kill your interest in the other one.
By Daz Go To PostWhat film leads into JL chronologically speaking?Batman vs Superman.
Batman vs Superman starts with the ending of Man Of Steel from Batman's perspective, ZS JL starts with the end of B vs Superman from the perspective of all the world.

Van Damme loses out because he doesn't have a lot of great one liners.
He has tons of great gestures/expressions though.
Seagal always has the same face, in every movie, it just gets fatter as time goes by.

By Apollo Go To PostJCVD is the better martial artist and actorYeah of course, miles beyond Seagal.
But I grade my action stars on a bigger curve I guess.
Seagal's first 5 movies are still great.
Van Damme late 80s to early 90s was also awesome and he has some decent ones later on.

By bud Go To Postthe cast for that film is crazy, though, and he has lubezki doing the cinematography. damn.yeah saw that too. adam mckay's next movie is extremely loaded too.

Godzilla v King Kong early impressions are very luke warm, which is surprising since early Twitter impressions are usually very lauding of any mediocre shit.
aren't they usually good for superhero shit because they invite guys from comicbooksaremylife.com etc.?
much more willing to dunk on the kong.
