I've had HBO max for 6 months and honestly I can live without
Curb's the only thing I remember to watch. Good stuff comes here way too late.

i could live without it too, it's not like it's hard to just download anyway.
but i leech off family for both that and netflix, ez

HBO MAX is okay. We don’t technically have it here but the HBO-made content shows up on Crave, which is where HBO stuff comes on in Canada.
Only streaming service I can’t live without is the Criterion Channel

HBO Max has Martin, Fresh Prince and a ton of classic cartoons like Ed, Edd and Eddy. So it's top 3 with Netflix and Hulu.
Fresh Prince is on Netflix here IIRC. So is all the Studio Ghibli films that HBO MAX has the rights to in the US.
I just basically use one streaming service at a time until I feel like I've exhausted everything I want to see. then I rotate to the next. Never got people having multiple services(outside of specific niche things)
Prime has tons of music documentaries which are really great if you're into that sort of thing(which I am)
The Prime Video UI is genuinely horrific to use
Netflix and Disney + got it beat in that area for sure (dunno about HBO Max)

HBO app is pretty fucking horrible. The UI is somehow worse than HBO Nordic which was also bad, but at least we got users now I guess. Still my favourite streaming service, just got a lot more I am interested in than the rest. Would love Criterion Channel, but yeah, we dont have that here and cant be bothered to try and cheat it with VPNs.
HBO's UI is definitely the worst in my experience. Doesn't work half the time, no option to directly go to the series page instead of directly into an episode, horrible rewind/video seeking, the 'next episode' button taking halfway through the credits to show up, etc. Just so many issues that shoulnd't exist for one of the newer services.
Prime Video's pricing in Portugal is ridiculous. You can play 6€ a month just for it or pay 36€ annually por Amazon Prime that includes Prime Video.
I save more than 36€ a year on shipping ports with Amazon Prime so that's the only reason I have Prime Video.
Having used pretty much all major streaming services (Prime Video, Peacock, Paramount +, Disney +, HBO Max and Netflix), Prime Video is still the worst.
HBO Max is a bit slow but that's likely a combination of using a VPN and the Android TV app.

HBO got a good library but the UI is horrible, on mobile it doesn't even allow you to flip your phone because the video is fixed in 1 direction
All of the services actually have some cool shit if you do deep dives or you just wanna watch something different or old. Prime has a bunch of 80s/90s cyberpunk anime on there.
Also watched Taken last night with my girlfriend
that shit's just boomer power fantasy. And not even the fun kind like Rambo 2008

I wouldn't say Prime, which shows different seasons of shows as different items in lists, has better navigation than an MP3 player from 2001, let alone any other streaming service
YouTube Premium elevates the experience so much, to be able to flick youtube videos like TV channels without any ads is incredible, especially on mobile. It's by far my most used streaming platform, probably yours too. The only reason I pay for it is to remve the ads.
Amazon Prime Video is okay I guess, they're slowly building their catalog but good content is the exception and not the norm. Terrible UI.
Netflix... Cancelled. Nothing really worth paying for right now.
I wish Canada had direct access to HBO Max, instead we need to go through Crave TV (owned by Bell) to access HBO Max, what bullshit.

I would probably pay for it, but nvidia shield fixes that easily, and on my pc (where I do the majority of youtube watching) I have adblock anwyay. Only really annoyed me when Ive been at the hospital with my iPad
Hey so Matrix is getting released today in HBOMax US? That means we're getting a distro today or that's not how it works?
Fair enough. Going to the cinema is nice, especially now that we can probably look forward to them being closed most places again soon.
Been out on the distros for a bit already.

By LeonidDikapriovLung Go To PostThere is alternative ways to watch it.
i may have to do this since cinemas are closed here for the next month.
lucky for me original language showings are only full on opening day/weekend. if you go week 2 you are basically alone in the imax. i'll go watch matrix then.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostOnly streaming service I can’t live without is the Criterion ChannelThe only one worth the money, innit.
I rewatched Masculin Féminin the other night (on Criterion blu ray, not Criterion Channel). What a film. Still my favorite Godard.
I hate how everything now has a subscription.
Fucking sucks.
Music, I get
Films and TV? sure
But every content provider and or studio now wants its own slice.

Just finished watching Matrix 4, pretty fun film overall. I liked the meta commentary and the expansion of the lore, just having the Matrix back is great tbh.
It is nothing like the first 3 Matrix movies, there is even commedy sprinkled throughout, and the action scenes are not as good (worst of the franchise). Apart from that the new characters are great, the new Morpheus and Smith were much beter than expected. You get the sense that Keanu and Carrie-Anne were happy to be back.
I'm looking forward to seeing it again, the meta commentary and the relevance of the Matrix applied to our society today was very interesting.
This movie is really not for everyone, I get the feeling a lot of Matrix fans will hate it. Newer audience wont understand it or care for it.

I subscribed to YT Premium last month because I was sick and tired of the ads on my C9. Yeah, there's no going back now. I don't know how I lasted this long. YT Music is a really nice bonus, haven't bothered with the other stuff that's included and I don't think I ever will.
Ouch oof yikes saw first five minutes of the Matrix and na, I’m not doing this what? You must be crazy.
Edit: I don’t know if I can survive this.

What a time to be alive. Won't have to risk my health to watch this fiasco
Of course people do, it's easy and often more convenient than actually subscribing (the amount of people who cant watch hbo anymore, after the switch from Nordic to Max here is hilarious, and I doubt they even have the service in the jungle where Elsk is from). Especially with a film released during a lot of countries lockdowns.

By RATHasReturned Go To PostGod damn, some of you people still pirating FILM in 2021.If it's a movie I want to support and it's available on a streaming service, I'm willing to subscribe for a month.
Did it for Halloween Kills, Dune, The Matrix Resurrections and a few others.
I just leech off my family's subs to all these services. Wish they would get spotify family though and disney plus.... Cant believe fucking Disney stole Always Sunny here.
