Enjoyed thon West Side Story. Never seen the original. Stevie loves his crane shots, sitting there thinking "c'mon, do a high noon."

Really enjoyed West Side Story. Spielberg's camerawork and sense of blocking are incredible, he's a genius. The only criticisms I'd have is that Ansel Engort felt miscast and there aren't enough differences from the OG musical (they should have set it in modern times) but it's a timeless story and one that should be seen by everyone.

When QT copies things from old films and uses them he's a genius but when Kojima does it he's a hack. Logically they are either both genius or both hacks.

You could say, and you would be correct, that every movie is a remix of other movies. Some hide it well, others don’t know how to hide it and then there’s someone like QT that doesn’t hide it but rather celebrates it.
It helps that his movies usually feature well written characters and scenes, and his ability to block scene has improved immensely.
He also passes the “what have you done for me lately” test with flying colors.
