Meledandri, himself an Italian-American, says he understands the concerns about Pratt doing the voice but promises that Mario’s lack of an accent will be noted somehow in the film.
“We cover it in the movie,” he teased, adding that Pratt also won’t be leaning too hard into the “it’s-a me, Mario” stuff that people, you know, like to hear Mario say. “That’s not the tenor of the performance throughout the film,” apparently. That being said, Meledandri does point out that Charlie Day is voicing Luigi… and that Day “actually comes from Italian heritage,” so “that’s our nod.”

Do it, coward
Shang Chi really shines in the proper kung Fu segments.
But man, ropey cgi and green screen is starting to really hurt these films.

low key that's why he shared it
trying to throw us off by pointing out a marvel movie in the list, which isn't even the biggest atrocity committed there...

I like loads of the movies on here, but jeepers mister they aren’t all in the top 100 movies ever made
I mean, it’s fucking gross seeing 2001 at 23 and Endgame at 22. Or there being 20 films from this last decade and around 15 from the 40s, 50s and 60s combined.
Great write-up of the challenges of adapting Murakami's work: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/25/movies/haruki-murakami-drive-my-car-ryusuke-hamaguchi.html
Man, I think I could watch a few more movies of Eddie Brock and Venom on crazy adventures.
Venom 2 isn't good but the scenes with Eddie and Venom are so stupidly fun.
I was dieing in the restaurant scene.

By bud Go To Postkermode is a lad.
Kermode getting triggered over The Idiots is one of Triers greatest achievements
The Idiots provoked a storm of publicity and debates, one of which was about the fictional representation of disability.[8] Film critic Mark Kermode's reaction was to shout "Il est merde! Il est merde! (sic)" from the back of the auditorium during the official screening of the film at Cannes, a spontaneous review for which he was ejected from the venue
(amazing film that and The Celebration, back when Danish film were at its best)
Just watched Last Night In Soho. Probably my favourite Edgar Wright film to date. A big negative however was the performance of the lead actor. I've never seen her in anything before so I don't know if it is her or the direction, but I felt it would have been a stronger film if not for that. I also thought the generic white male lead in Baby Driver also gave a bad performance so maybe it is the direction.
She's the jewish girl in jojo rabbit. Think she is pretty damn great. The last 20 min or so was the real negative for me of that film
+1 for thinking she was really good in the film, pretty much perfect actually for what that character was. And yeah, agreed...the ending is fucking terrible, really really bad...but what came before I enjoyed quite a bit so it certainly didn't kill the film for me.
By s y hulud Go To PostShe sucks in that Netflix show too but she's got a great agent
He is talking about Thomasin McKenzie, not Anya Taylor-Joy I think? Unless Thomasin also got a netflix show that I missed. Queens gambit is shit. But the witch sensational, and she was great in that too.
It started strong but I think Wright lost control of the story as he wrestled with both the main characters, and then as the story moves forward and the more supernatural elements come into play it all seems to fall apart right until the end.
And whereas Suspiria for example does a great job of using dancing within the story, it felt like the whole fashion thing in Soho meant next to nothing.

Caught French Dispatch last night. It was pretty good, but maybe a little too Wes Anderson by a half.
A little uneven across the stories too.

I'll watch anything Wes Anderson, haven't seen The French Dispatch yet.
So I started The Wheel of Time last night on a whim, having not read any of the books or whatever other material there is, and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Really immerses you in the fantasy world it builds very quickly. The red head male actor though, why is he so clean cut? Seems straight out of tiktok.

Watched Venom 2 today. Honestly I thought the CG and action set pieces were the worst thing about it the rest did kinda work for me. I'm really intrigued by the post credit scene.
Might go to the cinema today before society shuts down again. Surely couldn't go to see Ghostbusters so House of Gucci it is.

The movie's only like 300 pages of the book anyway.
