Any of you lads watched Saint Maud yet?
I liked it but don't think it really lived up to the critic hype. Over-egged a lot of obvious stuff before it got to where it was headed.

Lol
I might never watch that movie again because I have a sneaking suspicion it'll ruin my positive memories of it

I'm going to watch this
By Daz Go To Poststill holds up actually.I'm waiting for the 4K release to rewatch it. Think it was supposed to come out last year but it seems they are waiting to re-release it in theaters before releasing it at home.
Watched All The President’s Men for the first time.
So stunningly good, completely riveted, incredible Redford performance, felt like I was watching Zodiac again for the first time - and then it tells the last two years of the investigation in 30 seconds of typewriter
What gives brehs
I needed another two hours

Re watched Son of Saul. Super well made movie. Very memorable.
At what point does depiction of tragedy become torture porn?
Is shock value always bad? I've only ever seen people use that term negatively.
How many 'holocoaust happened' movies need to be made?

The first thing that came to mind was Clint Eastwood jogging along the President's limo while having PTSD flashbacks.
Forgot it was Redford / Hoffman picture, but you're right. It's a masterpiece that's been far to long since I've seen it.
Still loved it hugely, but it needed another hour. I could have watched them make notes on typewriters all day.
By n8 dogg Go To PostVery good film. Love Consequences of Love tooI remember thinking it was aesthetically quite dated when I watched that one, more so than say a film from the good old days. Like, distractingly early 00s.

MCU directors really don't do shit, huh
Storyboards have been a thing for a long time - this seems like a logical evolution.
Really enjoyed Il Divo. Worth checking out, as is Loro. Have had the Great Beauty sitting on my sky box since the start of the pandemic so I must get round to it.
It's funny though if you were to tell someone about P2, Gladio, Years of Lead, 'strategy of tension' they'd think you were talking mad conspiracy theories.

By reilo Go To PostThey collect checks for filming what Marvel told them to. Anybody could make one of these movies.

By Daz Go To PostStoryboards have been a thing for a long time - this seems like a logical evolution.Naaaah this is basically a team under Disney's thumb creates the movie ahead of time and sends it off to the assembly line to be produced by hiring unknown directors and cinematographers for cheap because they have to give film credit to any breathing body due to union rules.
Nobody knew who the fuck the Russos were because they directed a few Arrested Development episodes.
I wonder how much Disney pays them in order to keep quiet.
Imagine basically being responsible for everything Marvel and then fanboys hyping up random directors.

I really dont see the big deal if its just action sequences and massive set-pieces - they tend to be exhaustive and expensive to pull off correctly.
Directors are often given more credit than they are due - not many of them actually do action sequences and fight scenes well.

Especially when the results speak for themselves, since we all know and agree Marvel makes the very best Cinema out there.
Seems to be a win win for all parties.
Disney gets the movie they want, the fairly unknown director gets a high profile job and a good paycheck.

Jon Watts went from little indie to three Spiderman movies and a Fantastic Four. They just hire people who will say yes to the suits and the actors like.

With something the scope and scale of Infinity War and Endgame - with such a huge roster and over 500 million budget - I am not sure how else you get this project out the door without a Previs and long-term planning.
Wonder how Cameron does it
edit: the issue is not the pre vis - the issue being taken is that it gives no directorial or writer autonomy and instead is mandated by the studio
