Or are you talking about have a set prayer like "lord is my shepherd, i shall not etc"?From my experience, most American Christians treat prayer as something rote, where they just repeat things like the Lord's Prayer and Hail Mary's without actually thinking about anything. Just a routine that doesn't require conscious thought just because they think it's something they need to do every night to avoid going to hell.
This also extends to how many interpret their holy texts. Don't care about context, or how translations can affect meanings. Just read it literally or bend the meaning to fit the values they already have. Using it as reinforcement of existing beliefs instead of as actual lessons to expand their understanding.
If done right, yoga is a good way to practice your breathing in a controlled manner. People tend to forget to breathe when focused, and it's a bit of a skill to keep a steady breath while executing on a skill, whether that is yoga, playing an instrument, etc.
