There are functional addicts to basically every drug. I think it really matters if when it starts to impact your health and life negatively and you don't dial back or stop then it becomes a real issue.
Not a doctor or anything like that but AFAIK alcoholism is when your withdrawal symptoms from not having alcohol are debilitating or even impacting your life. You could die from that.
Had some friends who every weekend went to get blackout drunk, even if they didn't have the money for it
Some coworkers too

Just curious cause I know the doctor says like 2 drinks daily is an alcoholic. Most people are well past that.
That’s why I asked what’s the standard 😂
The folks I know either hit the bar or hit friends places to drink most days of the week.
My “normal” is off

By Andrew Go To PostI'm legit addicted to Diet Coke.switch to Coke Zero, Diet fucked me up with acid reflux
Help.
among other things of course...
Trying to limit it to 2 days a week, but on those 2 days I don't really set a drink maximum
I've been bad about it when I have less of a clear schedule tho
Mostly vodka. Beer is fun for special occasions but I swear I just bloat immediately

I like wine and while I don't over-imbibe I need to hydrate better because it just dries a motherfucker out.
By Kidjr Go To PostWhat separates additction and habit? Can you live without it? That's a habit.
Actual withdrawal symptoms
Some ppl I've known legit can't function normally without a hard drink on every break and before bed

If you can't get through the day without it lest your mood turns sour.

caffeine was the easiest one to quit for me, followed by alcohol.
I don't think I'll ever quit smoking though, because it's just so ingrained in everything I do, and I like it.

I just don’t know how people drink more than 1 cup of coffee a day. I drink 1 at 9am to rev up the engine and I’m good to go. No wonder people have “stomach problems” drinking 3 and 4 cups a day
By reilo Go To PostDid you manage to find a nice rehab facility after?for real though caffeine doesn't seem to impact me much but i drank one of those 300mg energy drinks once.. not gonna do that again.
I believe technically you're better off drinking two small cups (1 in morning, 1 in afternoon) than one large cup in the morning
By diehard Go To Postfor real though caffeine doesn't seem to impact me much but i drank one of those 300mg energy drinks once.. not gonna do that again. It really depends on what you drank. A cappuccino that uses two shots of espresso is more caffeine than a small drip, which is different from a pour over, which is different from a cold brew, which is different from a french press...

Also you gotta remember energy drinks add a bunch of other boosters (taurine) or the thing that really fucks you up like a ton of sugar.

Turkish Cypriot.
When I was working full time and studying for my law degree at night I went through 3 or 4 coffees per day. Needed it to keep up with the grind. But I felt there were diminishing returns after the third coffee of the day.
Pared back to 2 per day now I'm finished studying. And at this stage I drink coffee because I love the taste, rather than the need for caffeine. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

I dropped all caffeine drinks like 10 years ago because it aggravated my insomnia. I'll have a dessert coffee like once every three months now and that's enough for me.
By Daz Go To PostPeople coffee/espresso makers worth thousands in their homes.😬😬😬
To be honest, as much as I love coffee, I think I love the process more. I like making great coffee for people a lot.
I’ve definitely gotten to the point where I’m a bit snooty about coffee though
