The wonderful world of bureaucracy while working for the government. I've been on a yearly contract that could be renewed for a maximum of 3 years. My contract would finish at the end of this month but they started a program to turn people who had been working for at least 2 years into permanent jobs.
The whole process was a bit ridiculous, I had to apply and my application had to be evaluated despite no else being able to apply. The whole process took about 2 months, I still haven't signed the new contract but I got a call from the financial department to tell me that it was already in effect this month.
Why did they call me? Well, because of the new contract, the first 6 months will be a trial (to see if I'm able to do the job that I've been doing for 3 years) and as such, they will lower my pay in 15% for those 6 months as I am now an Intern IT.
Besides that, I still had 10 paid vacation days that have been seemingly erased.
