Learning another instrument after your first isn't that difficult, assuming you understand why/how sounds fit together to make a pleasing nose (basic music theory) . It's just technique and practice time at that point.
By Daz Go To PostGo on?of course you gotta learn the execution part of each instrument (how to hit the notes you want) but once you know how the notes interact with each other in a general sense you can definitely play anything at a basic level
for example if you know what a minor scale is youll know if you hit a combination of those 8 notes in any instrument you can achieve a pleasant melody
or if you know what a major 7th chord is, you already know what notes you need to hit on the instrument to make that chord
I don't think that necessarily applies to percussion or horns
String and piano instruments, yea, maybe, your chord progressions and stuff will carry over. BUT piano has chords the guitar can't do and vice versa but the fundamentals for it are the same sure.

It absolutely does for horns. Yeah, they can only play a single note at a time (multiphonics aside) but you still stay within scales for note choice in any given lick.
Percussion can be a little different as they are rhythm based, but there are also tons of precision instruments with different tones so the same music theory with other instruments would apply. Piano is basically a percussion instrument, anyway. :v
