Interview at a chemical plant this week. I've got a connection at the place, and i've been told it's a sure thing unless something completely out of left field happens, but I'm still anxious about it. Significantly more money and opportunities to work overtime which I want right now. I'll have to take an extensive background check and a physical/drug test if the interview goes well which means I still have to keep working at my current job until I get a call about a start date. Then I'll put in my notice.
but yeah the idea of getting out of retail now makes me want to put in my notice now and just see what happens.

I’m assuming you want overtime because the job doesn’t pay well and you’ll make most of your money getting overtime? Doing 65-72hour work weeks takes a toll on you, I’ll tell you hwat.
I would only want to do overtime when I start a new job to get myself acquainted with the in and outs of the job and acquire more knowledge and experience in the shortest amount of time.

They need people who want to work overtime, and I've got the free time to do that right now.

you about to work harder for this shit than the electrician layup, you know that right? any place selling overtime upfront is a mulcher. they can't maintain a full, efficient workforce for whatever reason so they dangle marginal incentives to squeeze water out of replaceable rocks instead of establishing a functional process
By LabouredPatriot Go To PostWas reminded of this all-timer today. That's what's going on at my current job
Not even counting me, we're losing my immediate superior, two full-timers and a part-timer in the span of a month.
By LabouredPatriot Go To PostWas reminded of this all-timer today. This is happening at my company.
they keep making people redundant and expect to keep on trucking with M&As and plan to IPO later this year.
They wanted my supervisor to train a replacement. She leaves in 2 weeks and they still haven't sent anyone. They haven't promoted anyone. They haven't given us a name. They also told me they want to promote me and send me to another store, but they haven't done anything. And all the while, i'm planning on leaving as soon as my background check clears. The only people who know are my supervisor (who's leaving) and my connection to the new job(who's leaving as soon as I do). One of our part-timers got suspended for missing 2 days in the span of a month. Bro it's a fucking grocery store.
Our store's lost 4 managers under the same guy, and I know he's still gonna try to blame the new grocery manager for all these people walking out.

Fr this is where I got stuck at
The opposite is happening at my workplace. New faces starting every week, full time contracts being handed out to long term agency staff.
Makes a nice change considering I was furloughed last year and got a verbal warning for calling a technician a nonce 6 months ago.

Similar. The place I work is constantly growing, which is great, but has its downsides. Constantly onboarding people takes u too much time

Get the WFH bag, data. You will be tired as fuck after those 12 hour shifts. Can probably save enough money to get your own gym and workout at home.

These mayo eating colonizers are trying to kill me with covid. Small list of shady bs:
January 2020 someone's daughter went to Cali and caught it then gave it to her father who then passed it around.
February 2020 someone got covid and healed it in a weekend with some Tussin and home remedy. Knew it was covid cause he refused to go to the ER.
Mfers coughing going through doors, walking around maskless.
Nov 2020, everyone I work with had covid scares and we shut down.
Yesterday a mfer showed up to work with a 105 degree fever and worked through it throwing up before getting sent home.
Im bout ready to run the fade with everybody there. How does it look to prospective employers if you quit a job because your coworkers are trying to kill you?

honestly "didn't follow covid safety protocols" is a decent enough reason and a future employer who doesn't respect that, you sure you wanna work there for the same reasons
are you working in an insane asylum? someone coming in with a fever would be instant termination in this pandemic.
