I didn’t even know windows had a pathway limitation when opening a file until this happened lol 😂
By DY_nasty Go To Post"We also have to have one project folder for legal reasons. Due to billing and the way purchasing material works, we couldn't separate our folder into site specific subsets."
breh this is all the more reason to actually protect your shit lol. its sounding like you guys don't actually know there's ready made solutions and available managers for this sort of thing. you can lock and prevent all of this, easily. and if the case is that someone is able to make substantial changes to all that with regular checks every step of the way then consider yourselves lucky.
blaming one person for the fact yal sitting on a powder keg still is crazy tho. socialism +1
imagine working rn
Put in a resume I’ll get you and interview. She’s the document control assistant
We don't work with fender and don't know the ins and outs to really judge the situation.
Sounds like she was given too much access/permission which might have been a mistake in itself but still mostly a fuck up on her part nonetheless

yal the types to ask someone to make a whole website with a straight face like its part of the job description just because you saw an ad for wordpress.

If you cry cause you’re told you need to coordinate with others better before making wholesale changes, that’s on you. It’s not like she’s in trouble. She just got a promotion. Nobody yelled at her. She just cried.
Are you crying? There's no crying. There's no crying in project management!
(Why don't leave her alone, Fender.)
Oh, you zip it, DY!

from the start, you got people in a make it up as you go hierarchy making changes without any follow up. and this is a document manager who's got free reign to do all this without apparently ever presenting a blueprint to the changes in the first place? ight chief. coordination is from both directions, and its kinda obvious yal aren't aware of the type of problem set or volatile situation you're sitting on anyways. even with the hyperlink issue you described, done right - you should have a changelist waiting for your oversight ppl to maintain functionality. all this around sensitive info too.
"made someone cry lol sawft" you want daps for that? cmon now. yal lucked out and don't even know it.
😂
I just got cursed out by my GC cause I wouldn’t give in regarding an issue they created. This isn’t the industry for people with a low crying threshold but go off on how not having proper doc management means she can cry when told to coordinate in a constructive way.
And lol you think I want props? Wtf? I’m daily wondering if this stress is worth it and am laughing in frustration cause I gotta deal with emotional swings.
Jesus Christ

To be fair to her, this job is probably sucking the life out of her like it is me. It’s not the company. It’s the job. Which is the nature of the industry. Not all are good. Not all teams and GC’s are good. The light at the end of the tunnel is jobs only last 2-3 years or so on average and then you do another with another team and GC. The company pays well and promotes from within. Hello she just got one lol. It’s rated well too.
The industry is fairly toxic though. The field staff communicates how you would imagine most construction workers communicate. Half the PM’s are ex-field staff that could do paperwork well. The GC’s are hit and miss. This one is already in litigation with another one of their subs and we’ve been subpoenaed, so that gives you and idea how bad this miss is. Engineers are know it all pricks. LAFD and inspections can get political. It’s not easy.
I toyed around on linkedIN the other day. I get hit up quite a bit. One of the places that wanted to offer me something wanted me to run a job that’s smaller than the energy storage system I’m buying. I’m purchasing a 7.5 million dollar 3 megawatts battery system. So while I’m currently wondering if this shit is worth it, I also take pride in what I do. My last USC Coliseum project was awesome.
All that said I also negotiate million dollar change order settlements and would get eaten alive if I showed emotion. She absolutely wasn’t in trouble, didn’t get yelled at or scolded and she had a compliment that preceded the critique. She’s not going to survive this industry if she gets rattled this easily.

I don't think I could ever find it at all amusing to make someone cry tbh, even as a coping method with them deserving the chastising.
The tears are most likely gut-wrenching reaction to a lot hard work not panning out. She wasn't trying to do a bad job. But it's got to be dissapointing to land face first after putting in so much effort.

By Lunatic Go To PostMen need to be more proactive when dealing with hair loss. There are tons of treatments these days that work. Don't be a bald fraud.there's three
- minoxidil which you have to apply on your head twice a day everyday for the rest of your life
- finasteride which you take as a pill but has nasty side effects
- hair transplant which is extremely expensive and leaves you with a scar on the neck
none of them are remotely worth it. just be bald, who cares.
