I think it’s illegal to request it, but things like LinkedIn sort of change the dynamic of what is the norm I guess.

By DY_nasty Go To Postno uggos, oldies, or minorities that look like they want to say thingsQuestion: couldn't you tell most of these simply by either name, birthdate or google?
By DiPro Go To PostQuestion couldn't you tell most of these simply by name and birthdate? I mean besides uggos. The Google search and general social media glance is gonna happen anyways - but generally after you've made it out of the "lmao foh" pile. It's a big pile. Clearing it is the biggest hurdle.
Rest is just a google search away.
And I don't think ppl include DoB and status until actual hiring processes begin here. Now that I think on it, I've never seen an age or birthdate on a resume. The assumption is always based on listed experience and graduation dates.
I've had a few interviews where they've asked me who I was despite having my details, because they were expecting someone with more melanin due to my name
By Facism Go To PostI've had a few interviews where they've asked me who I was despite having my details, because they were expecting someone with more melanin due to my nameIt happens often. I've been the only person in a waiting room when interviewers have come out awkwardly looking for the guy on the resume. Then the same stupid look when they realize what they did...
Allowing people to think I won't hold it against them or bring it up later is all the confidence I've ever needed.
I wonder if you can use this to your advantage and use an east-asian women to pose as the homeowner and bump it to 700K in certain parts of the country?
Shitty situation. I shouldn’t make light of it.

By Blue Go To PostI wonder if you can use this to your advantage and use an east-asian women to pose as the homeowner and bump it to 700K in certain parts of the country? It is shitty, and a horrible fact of life. I mean it goes for a ton of things in life where you are scared to be black, from things like pictures on resumes, starting businesses, and even selling your house.

Y'all, I've only been teaching a month, but some of these kids are unbelievable and their parents are almost universally the type to unquestioningly accept what their child says.
I don't need your screed about your child's participation grade, thanks. I have a screenshot of them doing their homework for their other classes during our class time.

the worst part of teaching isn't even the kids or dumbass parents - and they are horrid. But it's manageable.
it's the co-workers and management

Corporate training, business classes and whatnot.
Getting fewer than 5 hours of sleep per night is associated with double the risk of dementia and early death in older adults. Both very short sleep durations and poor-quality sleep in the elderly were linked to high dementia risk and risk of earlier death.
During slow-wave sleep, the brain activates the glymphatic system, a self-cleaning process that rids the brain of metabolic byproducts and other toxic compounds. One of these byproducts is amyloid-beta 42, a toxic protein that aggregates and forms plaques in the brain with age and is associated with Alzheimer's disease. Poor slow-wave sleep promotes the build-up of amyloid-beta 42, which, in turn, promotes poor sleep, creating a vicious cycle that has direct effects on brain health.
Some important sleep habits that I have adopted that have improved my sleep is early bright light exposure, no blue light exposure after sunset, no emails at night, cold and dark room.

it's over for me. I spent all last week trying to fix it. Down to 1.5 hours of sleep during the week. 13 hours a night on the weekend. hopefully that shit balances out.
By sy Go To Postit's over for me. I spent all last week trying to fix it. Down to 1.5 hours of sleep during the week. 13 hours a night on the weekend. hopefully that shit balances out.so you get like 8 hours of sleep during the week, total?
the morning drive and the noon to 3 periods are the worst. I'm trying to fix it though.
I've always struggled with going to bed on time and when I'm asleep, I'm asleep so those 3-5 hours I used to get were fine. Not sure how it got this bad. I've never been one to sleep into the afternoons on weekends but when I woke up at 5pm the other saturday I figured I should fix this.

Everybody has something to say about some aspect of what I'm doing and it's never enough. I do what they want and they ask why did I do this extra thing that nobody mentioned before. I'm allowed to not take late work, but then have to answer to administration why this student has so many zeroes and is there anything we can do.

If you are really are only getting 1.5 hours of sleep and are driving then you are a danger to other people. Cut that shit out.

I used to drink two Bangs a day. They have some great flavors. Suffice to say my caffeine tolerance is thru the roof. Really need a WFH job or I can see myself going back to that.

It took me way too long to figure out my co-workers were walled up and shitty because that's the culture. Everyone is burned out from criticizing and micromanagement towards unrealistic expectations and inconsistent approaches - but when someone new shows up that's willing to listen? lol Time to get everyone's take, become the most malleable teacher ever who should have passion to match Ms. Frizzle at all times, and get through to everyone because you're younger than most.
Even when I was staring out with instructor stuff in Hawaii, I had to learn how to protect myself in ways I didn't feel like I should've had to. Both emotionally and professionally.
Best thing I did was just set the bar in such a way that people had to actively try to fail while at the same time making it obvious to everyone that I'd take them as far as they were willing to go. If you've got any standardized testing or curriculum you're stuck to I empathize though. Shits rough.
