This also saves me from ever answering the dreaded "What did I miss?" from my students that are absent. (Which is increasingly a ton of them because my school is tops in the district in covid cases.)

We have to email the cover supervisor instructions for every lesson, along with worksheets if they need printing. Can’t just be a film or anything with IT, and for the 11-16 year olds they can’t use phones. It’s genuinely more work to take the day off and replan rather than just feel ill and teach what was already planned

Some are more serious about that than others though. Meanwhile me when substitute teaching, I get a note saying: they know what they need to do today. and then when i enter the class, i realize they have no fucking clue what to do, and we end up watching paddington or whatever all day.

Sorry to hear that Dean, but you have to trust them that they're experienced enough to know that splitting might be the best thing for them. My parents split up when I was 8, it was....pretty messy (mostly due to me and my sister being young), but it 100% was the right thing. They're both far happier now than they would have been if they'd stayed together for us.
