By Patriotism Go To PostAh I see. Hope they sort it out for you! It’s looking promising like, spoke to three different people in different departments and they’ve each said it should go my way and they can’t see a problem with it.
Been having a ballache with British Gas over the last month too. Had it in writing from one of their bereavement support reps saying they’d wipe the existing debt from my mum’s account. Roughly £700.
That was back on the 18th of November. Took them until today to reverse it. After sending multiple debt letters here and me ringing them several times to find out what was happening.
Arsehole company to deal with.
Edit: Got a call after posting, they’ve okayed the succession and the house is now in my name (once I’ve signed some paperwork in the new year).
Huge relief. Through succession, I’ve inherited the right to buy and a hefty discount due to the length of time my parents lived here, so that’s the next goal.
I’m visiting my parents for the holidays and one of their toilets wouldn’t refill automatically and also made a sound like it was constantly running. After watching some YouTube videos and posting/ reading on Reddit, I went to my local Home Depot and got the parts I needed and then fixed it myself lol. I’ve never done anything like this before but now I’m in the mood to tackle some more projects. Much cheaper than paying a plumber as well.
Great news Vapes!

But yes a lot of things people call professionals for can easily be done by themselves.
Generally need to know your own limits. You can find a video on YouTube for anything but need to remember, the person filming that video probably has years of expertise so they’ll make it look way easier than it is.
Various appliance repairs can be done without tossing the whole thing especially if they're old GE/Kenmore ones. Get model numbers and do your due diligence and you can find the sites that sell gaskets, handles, burners etc. Stuffs on Amazon as well. Even found a turntable for my microwave when mine busted outta nowhere.
By Apollo Go To PostDY,Yeah. Its actually pretty hilarious ngl. Even the business loan options are kinda crazy too.... Before covid took off, my plan was to buy a spot next to the casino up here. When the new job starts I'll be looking to start up the process again.
Have you actually looked at the VA home loan options? Never knew we had it easy like that
Fender laughed at me hard for not looking into it sooner.

My buddy that works at the Fresno VA has been buying and flipping homes through the VA. Pulled me aside to ask if I have taken advantage of the loans yet. If I can find a full time remote position next year I might look into it.

My homie bought his house using a VA loan. In a super competitive sellers market, a VA loan is kinda like an FHA loan. People will take cash or likely take a standard loan over a VA loan if there’s multiple offers, but that’s like the only downside IMO.
You both should definitely try and utilize that benefit.

I'm hoping this new job gives me some mental breathing room compared to what I've been doing in the past. I'm still thinking about getting out of the country (the mainland at least) too, but there's even ways to make that home loan work in territories and other outliers.
House flipping through the VA is definitely a thing. Blew my mind seeing what all some guys have been able to do with it.

By Batong-TT Go To PostYurope?Naw, probably Singapore or Japan again.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostWhere are you looking to go?I'm pretty open to a lot of places now (I hate DC that much). I actually came really close to Australia again before it caught on fire.

Cyprus is still the dream, but I've looked at jumping to the Virgin Islands, Vermont, NZ, SK, and even India. I was really close to a job in Germany and one in the UK too before I paused my career tbh.
A friend of mine was trying to convince me to go with him to Kenya. I think he's living it up now.... but he's also a lot more adventurous when it comes to pushing his business ideas on other people whereas I'd really just like to make money by myself, tell no one my plans for the future, and just appreciate the people that come and go.
Biggest problem I've got lately is that I keep waiting for a perfect situation to present itself.

If I could live anywhere and money wasn't a problem I would be in Maui tomorrow.
I've travelled a lot of places and nowhere gives me the energy and happiness Maui does. It's life.

See it’s even better than FHA. My loan prevented me from selling for a year IIRC. If the VA loan allows you to rent out what you buy …. I mean bro …
having an asset paying for itself here while you’re elsewhere wouldn’t be the end of the world ya know

The programme, which covers a two-year period of residence, is only open to individuals earning a minimum annual income of US$100,000.https://www.caymancompass.com/2020/10/19/regulations-for-new-global-citizen-initiative-published/
The regulations to facilitate the new initiative were gazetted Friday.
Cayman has joined islands like Barbados, Bahamas and Bermuda in offering this option to individuals who wish to work remotely and reside outside of their home country.
Applications are also open to couples earning a combined minimum income of US$150,000 and families with an annual income of US$180,000 or more.
The two-year Global Citizen Certificate will be granted to successful applicants subject to approval from the director of Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman once they provide evidence of their income and employment, and are confirmed to be of good character.
The annual fee for the certificate for an applicant and one dependant is CI$1,230, while each additional dependant will cost $420.
The regulations expire on 30 Nov. 2023 and applications will be accepted no later than 31 Oct., 2021 or, “in the case of an extension of these Regulations, no later than two years before the date of the expiration of these Regulations”.
Was extended to the last date for applications under the program to 31 October 2022. So anyone looking for a change and can work remotely look into it.
It was a bit of a hang up for me because for the GI Bill, to collect your money you need to actually be at the listed address and take a minimum x hours of on-campus classes. The big brain plan was to live in the place with the highest cost of living allowance to cash in while also finishing my barely legal reserve contract - that meant moving to San Francisco (lol), Manhattan (almost did it, just took issue with the unit there), or Hawaii.
Things were going great on the school front. I was getting paid to hang out with creative media geeks, stunt doubles, and escapists of all sorts. And when I wasn't in school my military job at the time was basically making sure the dummies didn't kill themselves. Everything went left when our unit got a blank check for individual training. My career got pushed forward about 5 years in a matter of months simply by accepting the position of Magic Negro and dropping out wasnt even a hard decision.
I was about to buy a condo by Diamond Head - then I got introduced to the contracting game by some coworkers and realized I could go private sector 😂 told my unit I was going to transfer to Maryland, got off the plane, realized my reenlistment wasn't even arranged alongside the transfer, and my give a fuck fell through the floor in about a week. That was back in 2018 and it's honestly been grind ever since. Going from one job to the next as each was a definite upgrade kinda put blinders in more ways than one. The whole young professional thing is easy to get submerged in.

By Pedja Go To PostHow did the cat break the freezer? They have their ways.
It was quite an old chest freezer. Been plugged in and running for some 15 years or so until that little ball of fluff and chaos knocked a cardboard box into the switch at the wall and it turned off.
Noticed it was off the following day, switched back on. It worked for around a day and then just stopped.
So I’m blaming the cat.
Got tiger balm on my dick and balls. Allah truly gives his toughest battles to his dumbest soldiers.
Man dealing with scotch bonnet peppers and then touching your balls is the worst experience. Better hope you have milk to dip them in.
