By Lunatic Go To PostHow should I call the opposite sex that isn't denigrating? Thanks for the correction đđžNo problem, male.
Itâs probably easiest to say/type
By FligureSkatingFlan Go To PostNo problem, male.Haha I can see now how being referred to as a male is unusual in general conversation.
Itâs probably easiest to say/typeâbitchesâ and âhoesââwomenâ.
Always felt like talking about my partner as a woman is denigrating to the opposite sex. At least it is here colloquially. It's only something you would say to your bredrins (close friends) but your "woman" wouldn't want to referred to as your "woman". She would prefer to be called your "gyal" (girl) or significant other.
I mean no one wants to be referred to as "woman" here either if they got a name or are your spouse/girlfriend/partner of some kind. Reminded me of this lol
I just refer to my partner by her first name lol shit isn't that complicated. Alternatively, I use "partner" or "fiancee" if I'm speaking to someone relatively new.
Yea I just said female because I thought it would be the most neutral word for una who I consider my boys. Honestly didn't mean to offend or denigrate the opposite sex.
It generally got worse because of the type that uses it specifically to denigrate and dehumanize. They've since moved on to other words but I think constantly using "female" rather than their human synonyms just raised enough hackles that it's forever like "ugh" unless in very clinical or military circumstances.
Itâs all contextual, of course. Calling someone âa womanâ sounds fine if youâre using it in a nonspecific way, but calling someone âyour womanâ can feel possessive and potentially denigrating, with a whiff of woman-as-property. The terms are also constantly shifting (and strongly affected by shifts in slang), (micro)culturally determined, etc.
In the original sentence I happened to jab Lunatic over, I think âa womanâ sounds fine. But if youâre in an ongoing relationship with her, the terms would usually change based upon your level of comfort, seriousness, and commitment. Iâm personally in a very long-term relationship, and my partner and I have, for many years, merely used âpartnerâ when referring to each other.
A simple rule might be: if theyâre unlikely to use the term themselves, they might not like you using it either.

By Lunatic Go To PostThanks guys. I'm thinking I will live by myself for a bit then probably help out one of my friends with affordable rent so that they can save up for a place. Though not sure how a female would feel about me having flatmates at my age.Just tell them that story for extra points lol

if they make an issue who cares fuck em. they aren't the right one. youre a homeowner most of these women barely own the extensions in their hair.
By Yurtlicious Go To PostJust tell them that story for extra points lolHa my first language is the Queen's English but you have to understand you dealing with people from Jamaican heritage so my vibe is a mix between english and patois. Also have to know you dealing with backwards countries when it comes to LGBT rights. We don't even recognise gay marriage. That shit has gone up to the privy council for their ruling. So we don't even recognise the rights of non traditional unions.

In an age of Netflix, Disney plus, and all kinds of subscriptions, Iâm glad Red Box still exists. I just finished watching Shang Chi on blu ray and it literally cost me $2. This year Iâve also seen Fast and furious 9, space jam 2, black widow, etc⌠and itâs always $2 each. I donât think Iâll ever go back to the movies again even after the pandemic.

Genuine question, is it worth taking student loans to start getting my associate of applied science in manufacturing so I can start getting electrician experience early or should I build up some money first

By data Go To PostGenuine question, is it worth taking student loans to start getting my associate of applied science in manufacturing so I can start getting electrician experience early or should I build up some money firstDepends on the loan terms, but usually yes it's worth it.
When do you have to start paying it back? And until then, is it a 0% loan? If so, then it makes sense to take as much debt as possible with favorable terms as your degree will likely result in you earning 100's of thousands if not millions during the course of your working period (i.e., 30 years or whatever). Your ROI would be incredible.
Don't know the specifics of the argument if a degree is needed or not in your field.

The fucking union trains you and puts you in electrical theory courses and shit man why do not listen
Look up your local IBEW chapter holy fuck

Hell with good credit he might be able to get a credit card with lower rates these days.
By reilo Go To Post0% student loan? What country are we talking about here because data wouldn't get that in the US.Canada (or I should say specific provinces in Canada) has a 0% 6 month no payment period after you graduate, possibly longer too but the usual is 6 months. With current rates being historically low it would make sense to get a student loan given the ROI a degree usually provides.
Hell with good credit he might be able to get a credit card with lower rates these days.
Some provinces even completely forgiven for some loans, and as such, those who do have continued loans just make the minumum payments as the fees are very low.
Yeah it's worth it here, where it's a state loan rather than a bank student loan. People (including myself in the end) take them, even if they dont need them. Just so much cheaper than if you need money later on for a home, car or whatever. If you end up never needing them, you just pay it back having paid barely any interest (if any).
you get paid to learn on the job and just show up for training like fender said. if you're looking at a degree for that field, you're trying to jump alllllll the way around and start laying out designs for entire complexes and high tier stuff - and you're not doing that with an associates
i think you guys are kinda misjudging how far off the mark he is

My experience is with university student loans and funding, I have no clue how it works here with something like the trades or an apprenticeship.

For a labor standpoint, there is no helpful degree regardless of scope. The fact that the union requires training and schooling is a reason why people pay the higher wage scale when building a job. If the owner is cheap and doesnât care about build quality heâll go non union.
If Data wants to be in project management thereâs courses to take and A Bachelors to attain. Only management tho. Plain labor, itâs just wheel spinning for the fuck of it
Listen to fender if you are trying to be a hands on electrician then join a union. If youâre trying to do engineering/management/whatever then the degree makes sense.
Half of the project managers are ex field staff that have no college as well. Be a field dude thatâs good with paperwork and a computer and theyâll look to bring you in.
Engineering on the other hand âŚ.
Engineering on the other hand âŚ.
Best thing to do is be a hands on electrician, become a master of it. Later on when your knees and back canât take it anymore get a office job that requires extensive technical knowledge regarding the electrician role. Like fender said, if you already have field experience then you are preferred for these roles over someone with a degree but no experience. Plus with the jump for WFH, youâll probably be able to work some days from home.
This is the blueprint Iâm following which applies to most industries that require skilled labor.

It takes years to become journeyman electrician, why add years and debt to it with school? Start your apprenticeship, get paid to learn and get vested as quickly as you can. đ¤ˇđžââď¸
