By Laboured Go To PostPeople are probably bored of reviews by now, but I thought this was good and balancedscreaming
Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that can feel very close to falling apart. It's immersion-breaking, in a game where immersion is absolutely paramount.
By Flutter Go To PostYour V isnt reflected on mirrors and such for one. RT shadows doesnt work on some small items that would've helped on it not looking floaty.
Most of the time it really helps to improve how the game looks and that's great! Doesnt mean that it's massively noticeable in every scene. CP 2077 already did good work on making it shine for the baseline.
It’s specific mirrors you can see your character reflection in I believe. Not sure why, but I noticed that early on because it’s hidden behind a toggle in the bathroom, i.e. you have to activate the mirror to see your reflection.
I’m turning RTX on and off pretty regularly just to see the difference in each environment, and I’ve not seen anything yet that I would describe as crap implementation. Everything I’ve seen so far looks natural. As I mentioned yesterday, the game looks surprisingly good still with RTX off I think (same settings everywhere else).
I think RT reflections not reflecting the character is a big omission, and is something they could implement with a bit more tasty crunch.
By Wahabipapangus Go To Postdamn 8m pre orders? Even Witcher 3 only sold like 4m in its first two weeks.
The company was nothing before W3.
Daytime in the city is like r_fullbright 1 a lot of the time. Controls, interface, inventory, all like 15 years out of date. Like it was built for a 360 and they couldn't be fucked to make a proper PC inventory system.
Sad mans crunched for this shyte.

yeah it's a proper last gen game with RT lmao. The animation for npcs is downright deux ex
My lingering impression of Cyberpunk 2077 is of a game that's shouting over itself, relentlessly at odds with its own creative voice. Amidst it all, the nuance that does exist in Cyberpunk 2077, the intense, intoxicating humanity at its heart, is so nearly engulfed by all the noise. But I think I can still hear it, just about.a dark souls quote if I ever seen one

RT definitely could have been implemented better. Like what I talked about when it comes to some small items strewn in the world. Things that could be patched to be improved in time but for now like almost everything in the game, could have used more time in the oven.

and?
But even with W3 being their biggest hit, the series still sold pretty damn solid numbers before that and they had GoG. Even the slaent elite would have liked to own that company I imagine.
By Yurtlicious Go To Postyeah it's a proper last gen game with RT lmao.
this is the most yurt graphics opinion ive ever read.

It’s a shame because with rendering and assets as good as this, it becomes even more noticeable when animation is sub par.
8 m pre orders is pretty wild. Has been quite a ride seeing CDprojekt evolve, since way back in the day of watching screens of Witcher 1 on a games magazine, years before it released and still looked like a neverwinter mod.
Nvidia released another RTX trailer with some good examples of the reflections at work:
Yeah I saw that in the Toms Hardware article. Again, I’ve not seen anything that I would describe as crap, but maybe I've just not come across it yet.

Cdpr removing all those prerelease videos console videos, not allowing reviews to use captured footage and hyping up some shitty day 1 patch
And yet still one if the highest rated games of the year

By Bungie Go To PostYeah I saw that in the Toms Hardware article. Again, I’ve not seen anything that I would describe as crap, but maybe I've just not come across it yet.Well that is crap.
Cyberpunk is an FPS where you create your own character, being able to see it in reflections, will help since there's not a lot of chances you can see it other than designated mirrors or when you're riding on a bike.
Implementation is how you use the tech, and while sometimes it's about how well you use it despite CPU/GPU limitations, I would say that it's disappointing given it's missing even on a PC with a 3090.
By Bungie Go To PostIt’s not great I agree, but I think you’re going overboard a bitI did say the game's mostly gorgeous, and that it could be patched in. Don't think it's overboard to criticise aspects of its RTX implementation given the hardware it can run on.
By Laboured Go To PostHappy for CDPR. So glad I got into their games with TW2.
how can it be called crap lmao, it's the best implementation of rt we have and probably will be for a long time. lack of v's reflections is weird but rt is already super expensive as it is. we'll probably go this whole gen with very minimal/weak rt.
Put a hour into this and I’m surprisingly enjoying myself. Combat feels a lot better than I expected. Nowhere near something like Doom but a couple steps up from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Basically not the disaster Witcher 3 was. Feels like this game is definitely going to be a victim of its own hype though. In the end it seems like it’ll be a solid 7 or 8.
Gotta say, nothing I've heard so far makes me want to not play it. Quite the contrary, actually. Most of the junk and bugs are likely to get worked out over the next couple of patches, on PC and next-gen consoles at least, although it will proly take a month or two to get it where it needs to be.
I'm in for the setting, characters, stories and role playing and all of that seems to be there in spades. Having a less than stellar user interface is like having a less than perfect inventory system in TW3. It's an annoyance, it should be much better, but unless it's really broken ... it's not something that is likely to have a big impact on my experience. I don't even remember what TW3's inventory looks like, the quests and stories I still carry.
I don't care about defending CDP tho, game is obviously a shitshow on last gen and a buggy mess on PC and people have every right to complain.
Sucks to be a day 1 gamer. Waiting is the way.

By cRrusheR Go To PostMaybe I’ll play this through GeForce Now. Steam keys still very expensive though. They added support for GOG just a day before launch of the game.

Weren’t they selling it for 18£? Shit where is that link?!?
By cRrusheR Go To PostWeren’t they selling it for 18£? Shit where is that link?!?Just go to the russian gog store with a vpn, got it for around £20 quid
I'm sure there's some hyperbole in this, but it does sounds like the update next year will make a huge difference to what people are seeing on Series X and PS5
I expect a 30fps "Quality" mode with medium-high settings plus some cut down RT features, and dynamic res hovering around 1440p. And a 60 fps "Performance" mode with no RT and medium-high settings, and dynamic res hovering around 1440p.
if this somehow affects sales on consoles, then I doubt they'll prioritize PC again. Especially after all the delays and shenanigans
but I doubt it will, and I hope they don't.

Regarding HDR:
https://discourse.differentk.fyi/t/topic-free-mega-thread-v-1-11-2020/79/3746?u=kaldaien
Evil Boris suggests a peak of 700 and mid tone of 0.90 - 1.50.
https://discourse.differentk.fyi/t/topic-free-mega-thread-v-1-11-2020/79/3746?u=kaldaien
You want:
Mode: scRGB
Peak Luminance: 1499.0 cd.m^-2
Paper White: 203 - 276
Tonemap Mid-Point: No Idea
Evil Boris suggests a peak of 700 and mid tone of 0.90 - 1.50.
Basically, the first HDR option uses a 10:10:10:2 framebuffer
10-bit red / green / blue 2-bit alpha (not important)
The second HDR option (scRGB) uses a 16:16:16:16 framebuffer
16-bit red / green / blue / alpha
HDR10 scRGB (16-bit)
is higher quality; 16 is larger than 10
is floating-point; it suffers less visible banding artifacts
is based on Rec709 / sRGB color primaries, so well suited for consumer displays
HDR10 PQ (10-bit)
uses half as much memory as scRGB
… can’t think of anything else good about it
The PQ in this mode refers to Perceptual Quantization, it is a form of gamma used in HDR.
Both of these formats eventually have PQ applied to them.
“HDR10 PQ” pre-encodes the image using PQ gamma
“HDR10 scRGB” renders the image without gamma and the driver applies PQ
In the end, the 16-bit scRGB HDR mode should be your goto for higher quality. It might incur a couple % more GPU load than the inferior 10-bit mode.
Technically, scRGB gets converted to HDR10 before your display gets a signal, but results are better if this conversion is from 16-bit color to 10-bit.
Going to start playing today after work. Going Corpo.
