so glad it's open world Deus Ex rather than cyberpunk GTA the marketing made it look like, I never thought I'd get something like this again after Mankind Divided bombed. VTMB 2 is in development hell so Cyberpunk is all we got now for these types of games.

I'm hoping that this rekindles the bonfire for "immersive sims", and that we will soon enter the new golden age of them. A new Deus Ex, a sequel to Cyberpunk, a GOOD Thief game, and lastly, New Vegas 2, all in the next 5 years.
I can but only dream.
Game's meeting my expectations so far, niggling issues aside. Knew it wasn't going to be GTA so that was never a worry, but I think the side quests in particular are really strong. The mechanics are serviceable and the UI sucks.
Mods might make this game GOTY 2021, it's my runner up in 2020 for sure.

There seems to be a lot of good in this game. Slaent is not the only place with people I know who's enjoying it. Come February/March, I'll buy the game again.

To be honest, I don't even really know what was expecting beyond a game with a futuristic setting. I didn't see much of the pre-release trailers/gameplay or know anything about Cyberpunk as a thing.
Thus far though, as a fan of Deus Ex, The Witcher, Mass Effect, etc. it has scratched many itches that they could have, if there was a true sequel to any of those franchises.

I’m still seeing a lot of missions marked as very hard at level 18. All the boxing quests besides the twins for instance. Tried a couple of them, they’re doable but there’s no fun knocking off 2% of the health with a combo while they can KO me in two hits.
A lot of the cyberpsychos have been doable at least, even kept a lot of them alive somehow. I’m curious of how viable a fully pacifist play through would be but I doubt I’ll ever attempt it.

Installing on my gf’s laptop, time to see how the game holds up on a GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q and a Ryzen 3750H with a 400mhz clockspeed bug 😭
highly recommended getting the double jump cyberware early, really opens up the map. going up to rooftops and parkouring is pretty fun, changes combat dynamics as well, opens up alternate routes and also makes some stashes/secrets accessible
Also lets you fall through the map when you discover about 40% of the buildings have no collision after a certain height.
I really, really wish there was better explanation for some of the leveling systems. I love exploring and learning as much as the next guy, but leveling certain trees is just guesswork at times.
