By batong_injured Go To PostWtf, seeing strong rumours about us chasing/agreeing terms with Renato Sanches. Haven't followed him much since his 'lack of effort' at Swansea. He’s finally good
Improved since then I presume?
The problem with Renato was he had a very rushed start of a career.
He had an incredible first few months at Benfica but had a slump for a while but the hype machine was in full swing.
He got a big money move to Bayern for the kind of money that fans expect him to hit the ground running when he didn't even had a full season of senior football.
Besides he was very close to his family and moving away to a different country, different culture, all alone and very young can be a big shock.
Him failing at Bayern isn't a shock, happens to a lot of great players, and the next move didn't help.
From being considered the best young player in Europe to playing in Swansea is quite a drop.
It affected his confidence and the more things didn't work out, the worse he played.
Lille was probably the best choice for him, it's still a top 5 league (at least for now) but the quality is closer to Liga Nos than the Bundesliga or the Premier League, two of the toughest leagues in the world.
Lille is also known to handle young talent well and there wasn't the pressure to fight for titles or of a relegation battle.
He is still young and he has quality, at his age, Bruno Fernandes was playing for Sampdoria and is now one of the best midfielders in the world.
Not saying that Renato will reach that level but he is a lot better than what he showed at Bayern and Swansea.

Lol what an idiotic thing to do from Thurman especially considering today’s climate, And his apology was vapid and empty.
Bah
Bah
literally none of our good players would stay if we actually got relegated, Gabriel, Tierney, Partey, etc, all woud be jumping ship inmediately.
25% is actually pretty tame. The club would be in financial trouble if they actually keep the majority of the players.
I honestly don’t think they will go down. Even The Leeds team that went down had way bigger problem, and honestly could survived if the fixed 1 or 2 things.

I imagine you don't put a higher relegation clause if you're Arsenal because it's probably a bit of a smell if your club asks you to sign a contract with a 50% drop in case they get relegated whilst also selling you on a top 4 run
honestly just get a new experienced manager and we aren't getting relegated, the whole thing is arteta has no clue how to fix his sinking ship
it's time to bring in henry
but even if you stick with arteta i'd be shocked if you get relegated, the trash down there is on another level

It's absoulety amazing people are genuinely talking about fucking Arsenal getting relegated
will someone take a fucking decision or not
just sack this charlatan already for fuck sake
even WBA are trying harder
what a disgrace

The bottom of the league is too bad for them to get relegated but man it’s funny to watch Arteta flop about
By faridmon Go To PostI love this man
I love you Carlo!
Felt like podcast contributors had turned on Arteta a few weeks ago, responses to the Everton defeat have been the same old bollocks though. Philosophy, process, hasn't got the players to play his football, can see what he's trying to do, of course they should keep the faith in him.
All fucking nonsense.
All fucking nonsense.
By inky Go To PostI don't think I can listen to footy podcasts.Like farid intimated earlier, they're bloody awful when someone's only area of expertise is in one club. When Ken Early is on form though 🐐
I mostly only listen to Danish football podcasts these days. A few Copenhagen ones are good, but there is a bunch of just general football ones that I really like, with lots of players, managers, former owners/ceo's and so on. A lot of insight that I feel like most English ones I listen to dont have, guess cause they would be talking about too high profiled stuff usually, that they wouldn't be allowed to share.
My favorite one is Lars Jacobsens. I never realized just what a mad person he actually is, until I started listening to him. His rants about how cheese close to him at any point during his day, will ruin that day for him (and he cant eat for several hours after), that it's his right to pee in the shower after matches for Everton, his many Fat Sam stories and so on are sensational. It was also from his podcast that the Sean Dyche eating worms things came from

What utter nonsense. Bring in Pocket Tuna or Allegri to coach those soft cunts and they’ll be finishing high up the table.

I just wanna see how far of a rabbit hole does this Arteta Arsenal marriage situation go.
I guess I just wanna see the world burn for my amusement, pls don’t fire Arteta!

Contract renewal is now official, release clause raised to 70M€. Good news, 45M could have a been too low in a year or two.
