2021 is going to be a big year for me, my contract ends up in October and despite working there for almost 3 years, for my job to become permanent, I have to apply to a public contest with everyone who signs up where we are going to be evaluated on our CV and the results of a test.
So, despite doing very well in my job, proving to be an asset by being able to do network configurations, server maintenance, maintenance on cloud services, multimedia work (audio and video editing, some design work), doing some light web programing, managing the Active Directory that has almost 30k users (all teachers, school workers and students of the region are on it), working on premises when everyone was locked at home because of Covid and hand delivering more than 150 mobile hotspots to 8 different schools around the island on my own personal car, I could be out of a job in November.
My manager really doesn't want that to happen, he says that it would be a massive step down because understanding how 52 different schools work in terms of servers and network takes a lot of time because it's a very unique situation, but I am not sure how much he can do to control it.

One of my friends is actually getting her first vaccination shot tomorrow.

Not much IT work around here and I am still hopeful about getting the job. It's a government job, the wage isn't great but it's terrible either and if I get it I wouldn't have to worry about getting unemployed any time soon, a government job is a safe as you can be job wise around here.
