He's lucky he is English and not named Ole.

By noal Go To PostLads, I think I have just gone three league seasons without losing..
..I may as well retire now.
Really good game from us, convinced arteta did did not ask those players to do anything different than he has of other personnel.
ESR did soo well considering the level of the game. He could be one to watch. I've always thought Martenelli is our best players at the off thr ball stuff and feel his persistent pressing was infectious. Xhaka had a decent game, good even and Mari was quite impressive.
Slot partey in and replace laca with auba and we should be fine for rest of the season. Think we're in too deep with arteta to not give him atleast two full seasons

I think Laca suits the Arsenal shape better than Auba. Yes the latter scores goals, but Laca will make Saka and ESR better.
Yeah, good buy. Liked him a lot last year.

Happy with the performance. Obviously not a pretty game, but the conditions and Sheffield's riggid performance made it difficult for us. That and not have a creative midfielder. Having said that, we were organised, resolute and rigid. Man for man, we were superiour. for the 4th game in a row, we outscored our opponent, kept a clean sheet, and not let in a singe shoot on target in the second half.
Sheffield had only 1 opportinity all game, and that came at 95th minutte. Calvert Lewin worked his socks off, as well as Doucouré (having to cover for 2 men defensively), Siggurdsson had an OK game, but came in big when needed.
Having said that, we are running on fumes. Its a miracle we won this game, let alone 4 on the bounce. We are exhausted, simply too tired. Our squad is depleted with Hamez, Allan, Digne, Richalison out as well as Keane now. Calvert-Lewin played every minute this season, and we are breaking him. Not sure what to expect for Man City game (in bloody 2 days time!) but I wouldn't be disappointed if we lose. I hope we rest some of our players.
Upwards and onwards!

I see Sarr won the game for Watford this evening. He's just too good for the Championship. Haven't heard many rumours about a January move for him, but if Watford fail to get promotion in the summer he's definitely getting signed by some PL team.
I'm happy enough that United didn't sign him as we've Traore arriving in a few days hopefully. But wouldn't say no to Sarr either.

He's a good player, but a move in January will be very difficult to pull off especially with Watford being well positioned for a promotion push in the new year.

I wonder if a good money is being offered; Watford would be in a position where they couldn't possibly refuse.
I know we wouldn't be able to buy him anyway.

Yesterday was the first time I've truly had doubts about Lampard.
I know people will scoff and say he's never been good enough. They're right, but I was hopeful that he was slowly putting things together during that winning run and making meaningful progress - even if we weren't always convincing.
The last couple of weeks have put paid to that. Sure, we might go on another run and beat Villa and City, but right now I don't see it. We let a team low on confidence walk all over us - again. The players of course need to take some of the blame, but it keeps happening and that must be attributed to the management.

He might not have asked the players to anything differently, but the formation was better and having the Brazillian wastemen out of the lineup showed that the players can give 100%.
I'm with Nate, would much rather Laca play that role than Auba. Laca links up play and holds on to the ball so much better. Auba is fantastic at pulling a goal out of nowhere, but he really needs to play himself back into the team after his subpar performances this season.
I was all onboard giving Arteta time even if we were to finish mid table, but his comments and the drop into the relegation battle swayed me to want him out. I hope he can turn things around, and as long as the players play like that, regardless of the results, I will be happy and the team will most likely finish top 8 this season.
Bring on Brighton.
i hope arteta abandons 5-3-2 now and continues with 4-2-3-1.

Unrelated to that tweet but I’ve noticed Everton fans are convinced everyone is a tory
Not just on social media, but four times I’ve seen us play Everton and on each of those I remember hearing them call someone a tory outside the ground - and this is in one of the most deprived parts of London

It never ceases to amaze me that just because a team gets a win people think that magically now those players & formation work & should be the team going forwards. Not playing Aubameyang is madness.

Agreed. The play if the front four looked very encouraging, especially if Kieran and Bellerin can learn to cut back more than try to cross.
Was just one game, but there were enough positives to continue with it, especially ESR. He won possession back more times than any other player for us. So much easier playing football when you win the ball back in your opponents half.
VAR might be a bit rubbish, but I won't lie - seeing the guy who does the minute by minute for the Guardian getting bent out of shape about it every single time is amusing.
By Bungie Go To PostUnrelated to that tweet but I’ve noticed Everton fans are convinced everyone is a toryI say this as an Everton fan, but the Everton fans on social media are probably the worse set of fans amongst the Premier League club. Many of them are toxic, full of hubris and have a great deal of victim complexity. Heck, they are even toxic to the players slating them after a loss.

Please don't conflate them with Everton in real life who are actually some of the best people out there.

Journalists getting salty about every decision never cease to amuse me.
I think the win at Chelsea was more due to that Arteta's tactics are well suited against a team like Chelsea; let's see if they'll have the same issues like before against a team that defends deep.
Covid actually helped Arteta immensily yesterday. Because of it he couldn't start his protegees Willian and David Luiz and was forced to go for youth. Would he even think about starting Martinelli and ESR yesterday if that wasn't the case? Both were key for our performances, and when they got subbed off, our performance went a bit downhill.
Will he start to make the right decisions when all the squad is available or only when he's obliged to?
I'd guess he's intelligent enough to realize that, for us at the moment, these kids are the ones that actually care and are putting the effort on. If I see Willian starting for us against brighton, sack him.
