Anything else than sending this out on PS+ for free would have led to failure.
Disappointed to see so many people with their kid gloves on. “It’s like a supped up Xbox One, it’s great.” Uh
You can chose whether your control operates through Bluetooth or USB cable. On PS4, it was Bluetooth no matter how it was connected iirc.
If Destruction Allstars can be a modern version of Destruction Derby mixed with Twisted Metal then I'll be happy. I've wanted a Destruction Derby like the original PlayStation games for the longest time.
Edit:
Google Play finally updated with the new PS app.

As with all things this launch though, they needed to message that way better, not just in a intended GDC talk

Cringed my way through that launch trailer. The self-seriousness is off the fucking charts.

Sounds like the Series X is getting hammered on the forums for reviews talking about the lack of Series X exclusive games at launch
Definitely a fair criticism I think if you want make direct comparisons to past console launches, but then Microsoft aren't in the business of putting up artificial barriers between generations to encourage people to buy their new console. Without drawing on launch nostalgia, accessibility is a strength of their approach for consumers rather than a weakness. I get that there's perceived value in being able to play something only on newer hardware, but that's really all it is.
"Is it worth me buying it?" and "is it a good/bad product?" definitely aren't the same question

Artificial barriers, or games that are actually built from the ground up to take advantage of new hardware
Personally not interested in what the media thinks of the launch lineups, the games will come. Just tell me about the build quality, UI and new features.

A popular fallacy
How so? Eventually the games that companies want to make will be beyond what is viable on PS4 and Xbox One, so why not make a start on that now? I don't see any point to dragging out the cross-gen period if Sony and MS can help it. At a point it goes from being consumer friendly to making the new consome seem pointless.
By Bungie Go To PostSounds like the Series X is getting hammered on the forums for reviews talking about the lack of Series X exclusive games at launchNot really the point though, those media outlets have praised Xbox going cross-gen for a year or two of 1st party titles, it's just that none of them have appeared yet really. If Halo was there, I don't think they'd be complaining that you can play it on XBO. It's a continuing issue where MS haven't put out a ton of high quality games in the last few years.

That probably changes given the amount of studios they've picked up, but it's an issue at launch regardless

MS doesn’t get to define a new standard just because they want. The same controller but with a share button, the same UI, no first party showcases, literally nothing that makes it feel like an exciting new system aside from faster loading. How is the launch of the Series X any different from the X1X?
I’m glad most people aren’t down with lowered expectations just because a productivity company said so.
Console launches are meaningless with respect to the overall life of a console/platform. It's just nerdy early adopters crowing from rooftops.
It's not too crazy to ask for new videogames for new hardware. This isn't the phone market where your old apps carry over and it's a daily utility function. It's an entertainment device at the end of the day and new content is what gets people excited.

Because games and modern game engines are built to be scalable.
The overwhelming majority of games are not made to encourage people to buy a new product

MS doesn’t make the majority of games. It’s just that now they are more interested in selling you a service than they are selling you new experiences.

I've not done an exact comparison, but number of games launching on release day doesn't look that much different to previous launches

The product being the console
I still think the Xbox is easily hardware wise the more appealing product, but goddamn did MS bungle the software side up, and that's what I've been saying for months now. The fact that even all the cross gen games look like trash (sorry UbiSoft, Dirt and CoD) makes this thing absolutely unviable for people thinking about switching camps - no backlog and certainly no one is going to rebuy old games.
Tragic.

Accessibility is great, but it's not like Xbox hasnt had a mediocre gen, so what it means is you get to play BC games from their worst console generation with better performance.
So yeah, Xbox does needs exclusive games to set it apart from two competitors that has so far hit it out of the park.

Not everyone has played every game they ever wanted to play. This is a Kyoufu problem that not many people have. If I was to buy an Xbox and login to game pass there's a huge number of games I would have access to and want to start.
They're not new releases, but that's a psychological difference not a material one.
buying at launch is always gonna be shit, you make a purchase because of the games you know are coming, and xbox will be fine going forward
ok so relying on halo for the console launch looks bad in hindsight, but whatever, delays happen... but it seems insane to me they didn't at least fund some smaller graphical showcases like ryse/godfall??? this is the weirdest decision, i just don't understand how this went down in meetings

2021 doesn't look particularly hot either for Xbox, but they've also got so many games without even a year, so who knows?

What you're calling a standard is a specific expectation you have, and probably a lot of other people of forums share, about what console launches should be. But not everyone is going to have that.
By Bungie Go To PostThey're not new releases, but that's a psychological difference not a material one.Sure, and that 'psychological' difference is what people want.
Hell, we could say that PS5 has that in its repertoire too with PS Plus Collection, when it's very clear that both options is only a plus point for getting either consoles.
I agree that not having anything else ready is dumb. People who buy new consoles at launch are the same ones who buy those crappy games like Ryse and Godfall to justify their decision and have something to play. It's like the easiest million seller+ strat you can pull off, and not even having that easy shovelware win ready is just bad strategy.

You look at it like a proper pc bloke. Better GPU = better hardware. But a new console isn’t just a new GPU.

Well it’s the history, it’s the tradition, these things shape expectations. People want to be surprised by something that feels fresh.
Xbox wants off that train because it’s really hard to do that when the whole point is Gamepass. I get it, but the reaction is not unwarranted and I can tell you that if Sony was releasing a system like XSX the way MS are, it would get dragged through the coal.
