Forza Horizon via Game Pass is fun. Looks great.
Gears 5 looks good (not great) and I won my first horde mode round in 14 years. That felt good.

Have you played the SP? I can't speak on MP as i don't fuck with Gears MP, but in SP it looks phenomenal, and arguably has the best HDR implementation in gaming.

Training level? With the robots? If so yeah, that's nothing lol
I'll get used to it and learn but still a little confused with some of the UI/menu stuff on ps5
Feel like things like closing apps or checking what apps are running should be a little easier

By sy Go To PostYou're welcome and don't worry, the real launch platformer got you covered
By jjasper Go To Postresolution drops below 4k at times to maintain consistent framerate vs native that would stay at 4k 100% of the time
By sy Go To Postnative 4k - 3840 x 2160 image 100% of the time
dynamic 4k - Resolution scales in order to hit performance target. Eg: Demon Souls in performance mode outputs 3840 x 2160 some of the time, but will scale from 2560 x 1440 and upwards to maintain 60fps.
Spiderman in performance mode upscales a resolution range from 1800p to 4k with their own technique to always output a full 4k image I think
Thanks lads.
Just saw the GiantBomb Console streams. I think I'm good till the price (and hopefully the size) of these boxes drop or must have games drop.
My impression: missing the next gen feel. PS4 and Xbox One were way more exciting. UI wise, accessories and functionality wise and even game wise.

To be honest, even with games, I'm way more excited for Miles Morales and Demon Souls than I was for KillZone and Resogun, even including cross-gen stuff
That said, by the time these drop in price, I would imagine the libraries for both will be a bit more inspiring for you
The hardware foundations this gen look the most solid they've almost ever been. No real major weak points. Launch is ultimately meaningless and I'm expecting a better gen than last.

Agreed. But this makes the launch feel even more deflated, because there are barely any titles to show it.
2013 launch was wild, you just forgot about it. Voice control, cameras, digital rights, 2nd screen stuff, twitch integration and sharing options, it was the wild west and fresh. There was so much to explore. This launch doe - it's a promise for better things to come - everything else looks tried and tested - which leads to people being the most excited about the controller.

By sy Go To PostPS4 launch was trash besides watching people make amateur pornGlorious times.
The PS4/X1 launch was a dud for me.
PS4 day one, slept through Killzone, got the platinum for Resogun. Knack was shite and hard crashed the console, Battlefield 4 crashed to the menu repeatedly, there was that other PS+ game that had Adam Jensen’s voice actor in it that looked and ran like shite, crashed too.
Sold it the following year and all but gave up gaming completely for about a year. I attribute that solely due to how bad that launch was. Which thankfully also meant I missed out on 2014 in gaming, which by all accounts was terrible.

DeS and Miles look (not run) better than anything on your PC right now.
and the former is wilding with dualsense, the situational awareness you get from that and the audio is proper cool.
Worst thing about day 1-ing a console is hoping you don't end up with a brick and having to wait weeks for a replacement

This is something I just cant get behind.
On PlayStation 5, WRC 9's got a helping hand with the DualSense, Sony's handsomely featured new controller, and it's a bit of a game-changer. Force feedback has often played a big part in driving games - my first experience of a DualShock, like many others I'm sure, came when rippling across the kerbs of the original Gran Turismo - so it's only right that the best DualSense workout I've experienced outside of Astro's Playroom comes here. There's a nuance and added fidelity here that, if explored a bit more fully, could be as transformative for driving games as the shift from 30fps to 60fps.
long list of games that look better than spiderman
but DeS looks phenomenal
ac valhalla does look better in spots, but is also v inconsistent

the only super impressive pc game as of now is one that isn't out yet: cyberpunk.
night time + neon lights + wet surfaces + ray tracing = mashallah.
other than that... eh. nothing truly blows me away.

Shame on you Yurt, forgetting that Star Citizen has got that forever 'next gen' look and doesn't even need an official release date as it rolls out in stages.
It’s absolutely fair to say many PS5 exclusives will look better than most games on PC. That’s just how it is.

oh, that's right. sc looks great, too.
hope the single player doesn't disappoint.
one thing is certain
Elden Ring is gonna look painfully last gen and it won't even run right
and for the first time ever, reviews might call them out on it thanks to Bluepoint.

At the very least I hope they make it possible to go over 60fps without destroying the game's physics. Although I'll also take locked 60fps, which has never been a problem in previous Souls games on PC for me. Miyazaki-san won't let us down this time, I can feel it.
In general, are you supposed to plug electronics straight into the wall or a surge protector? I think all my consoles have only ever been via surge protector power strip.
edit: in fact, I don't even know if my ppower strip is a surge protector lol
