Also it's not really one of the biggest franchises anymore.
There's also only so much space in 2021. Ratchet, Returnal, Ghostwire, Horizon 2, maybe FF16, GoW Ragnarok and that doesn't include the titles that got delayed with Deathloop and Kena. Not to mention other indie titles they signed up.
GT would have also meant a more diverse launch lineup.
i think gt still does well in europe and decent enough in japan.
it's not the monster it used to be, and i think a lot of people hated how sport was pretty much an online only game.
but the old gt is back. it'll do very well. especially with the old simulation mode returning. and everything else--sound, graphics, physics, online mp--is/will be so much better than it used to be.*
gt7 will be gt3's little brother in terms of succes, imo.
*the ai will still succ.
i can't even begin to imagine what it'll be like to go into a race without waiting 30 seconds for the track to load.
or checking out cars without having to wait a second or two for the model to load.
kazallah. i'm ready.

My expectations for a GT7 on a new console are sky high
I want 30 cars on the grid, multiclass racing, 30 tracks, dynamic time of day and weather, dedicated servers on lobbies, 4k/60fps at the bare minimum.

it adds so much.
And weather pls.
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostIt's certainly one of the biggest franchises for playstation. While 6 had bad sales, GT: Sport sold like 8 mil. Yeah it might not be a God Of War or Uncharted, but it's up there with a lot of the best selling exclusives.
GoW sold 10 million and Sport like 8.
I'm willing to bet a numbered GT version clears 10 easily too so it IS as big as GoW.

6 sold like 5m though. I'm not completely sure, but it is certainly very big. It's the kind of game that gets my dad to buy a console too, who does not play anything but that.
6 was the most poorly timed release it could have possibly been in fairness. Like a month after PS4 dropped... with no b/c. Cut the legs out from under it.

kind of forgot about that. so both gt3, 4, 5 sold around 12 mil. and even the online spinoff in Sport sold 8. That is pretty good numbers.

GT7 should have both the online aspects of sport and the single player carpg of mainline entries. It’s also launching at the perfect time. I would be surprised if it doesn’t become the biggest entry in the series.

Cerny da GAWD
At first glance, Cerny is perfectly unassuming. He has a pleasant lilt to his voice, and sort of resembles Stephen Malkmus, or really any 90s indie rocker still active in 2020.

Hype is through the roof.

Never understood the disdain some people have for symmetrical stick layouts, asymmetrical either for that matter. Literally makes no difference to me.
Which type are you, diehard, the “it keeps your left thumb in a more ergonomic/comfortable position”
To which I think, you don’t care about your right thumb tho?
Or “my thumbs touch with symmetrical sticks” how fucking long are your thumbs, fam?
By HonestVapes Go To PostWhich type are you, diehard, the “it keeps your left thumb in a more ergonomic/comfortable position”That's what's been perplexing me for years with this argument. Do people have asymmetric thumbs?

I remember people who couldn't use ps pads because they used symbols instead of letters.
Imagine being that soft

I think having the left thumb higher is easier for navigation functions (e.g. more up and down movements) and lower right stick better for camera aiming functions which tend to be more often lateral movements (put in the most simple way I can).
The lack of accurate shadows underneath the cars and especially around the wheels bother me. It makes the cars look like they are floating.

Can't really think of how you'd do that with moving objects with conventional light probes.
RT AO + RT contact shadows would be the brute force way of doing it in an open world game I suppose.

Which could make sense if so many games nowadays, shooters especially, didn’t require all angles of movement from the right stick due the verticality in those types of games. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Fortnite, Apex, etc. If you’re not just as efficient looking up/down and diagonally as you are left and right, you may as well not even have a pulse in those games.
If that’s the leading thought going into controller layout design and stick placement, then the people designing controllers aren’t taking the biggest selling and most played games of the last 15 years into account,
I think it’s more believable that the face buttons and right stick locations stayed where they are to keep the controllers balanced for all types of games as the face buttons have stayed in that rough location for almost every controller ever made, predating analog sticks.
It’s common that you may need to rest your thumb across X/A or Y/B on a controller in certain games to utilise two inputs in quick succession.
With face buttons in the lower position, your thumb can overlap onto a third button. Given the amount of accidental bombs I’ve dropped while jumping and whipping playing Spelunky 2 with a Steam controller, it can definitely be problematic.
That’s something I can see the people designing controllers realising and taking account of, and thus deciding to keep the right stick in the traditional placement as it makes the most sense overall.
Gotta remember also that when the original DualShock controller came out, the dual stick control scheme for movement/camera was not really a thing. Sony didn’t go, “ahhh of course the right stick should be placed here as it’ll be best for lateral camera movements”. They just slapped two sticks to their existing controller design in a way that would fit and then rolled with it.
Everyone else followed suit since games in the late 90’s and early 00’s heavily relied on the face buttons being the main input methods for interacting with the game.
Nintendo went extra hard on that with GameCube controllers judging by the size of the A/B buttons and tiny C stick.

Was playing GT Sport this evening in cockpit mode and the draw distance is really bad. Never really noticed it in chase cam.

I generally prefer the XO controller over the DS4 anyway since it’s just a more comfortable shape for me. I use multiple different pads depending on what I’m playing though too.
On my desk currently I have the Steam controller, to use with whatever supports it fully, a WiiU Pro controller for anything that requires a decent dpad, a XO controller for whatever doesn’t fully support the Steam controller.
All different stick/button layouts. Not at all arsed by them with the exception of the Steam controller’s tiny face buttons and position of them not being suitable for certain games (though it could be mapped to suit them I suppose).
By sy Go To PostAnother YouTube channel for me to subscribe to.
Asymmetrical sticks are inferior unless the point is to use the left stick and the face buttons. That layout works great for Nintendo, but on Xbox it’s just hilarious how it has somehow become this thing that is supposed to work better than a symmetrical layout in shooters no less, a genre where you’re using both sticks.
And here’s the kicker, the left stick placement is the only one different and the one hailed as the more comfortable position, but it’s the stick with the more basic function, as the right stick that controls the camera requires much better precision, yet it’s placed the same as the DualShock. Seriously...
Again can’t wait for gyro aiming as a standard option so console gamers can leave analog sticks behind in competitive MP.

So 2021 PS Studios is looking like
-Ratchet
-All Stars
-GT 7
-Horizon II
-God of War
then PS5 console timed exclusives
-Deathloop
-Kena
-FF16
-ghostwire tokyo
Then Xbox should be going crazy in 2022 but Halo, Hellbalde 2 and Starquest could be 2021.
