By Laboured Go To PostWeird that it seems he's a safety first manager. Not what I was expecting. He will need to change that really fast otherwise he won't be here next season.
That whole lose-by-the-minimal-margin performance at City still does my head in.

Fuck that.
auba isnt scoring because he's stuck trying to cross to lacazette and willian because i dont know, for whatever reason I think Arteta thinks he could just get both of these to one day click on just by starting them
Today was just essentially the logical conclusion to what most people have been saying the past months, we are too rigid, no creativity, set ourselves to not lose instead of winning (which was also eventually Emery's downfall), expect to win every game by scoring the 1-2 chances we have.
Willian was a terrible signing who has done nothing since the first matchday and I'd rather just play Pepe there because at least he scores a goal or two out of nowhere once in a while. Also, despite supposedly being good at retaining the ball he just passes it straight to the opponent today which leads to their first goal. Think the fact even in Europa League matches he looks out of place should show the game is probably gone for him at this level.
Lacazette is a has been, a worse striker than Giroud who supposedly is used for his hold up play but can't hold onto the ball for anything except to just pass it straight back to the CBs. And the miss today, pin point cross straight to his head and he attacks it completely wrong over the bar. Between this and the Liverpool game it's clear he is not a game-winning striker, and we should just put Aubameyang as the 9 he is, instead of shifting him to the left to shoehorn this bum into our starting XI.
And it's not only a creative mid, sure it would be nice to have one, but our players (except Partey mostly) just seem scared of taking the ball and moving it forward, of shooting from anywhere in the field, of 1-2s with a run in behind, there is no confidence in doing anything but the very rigid system we have set up, which leads to scenarios like today where we just end up crossing and crossing.
Arteta hasn't even had a year in his manager career but these are issues obvious to anyone and that need to be addressed now. There are some obvious good things in his approach to the game but we cannot keep playing the same failed tactics and expect different results.

Is it me or is there something really weird but also really funny about him doing a video like this? His promo expression like he’s modelling an expensive watch, his sons face, his wife trying desperately to stare straight ahead (no idea what they’re all looking at) and then his daughter just looking into the camera. #We #will #remember #them

Think Joe Gomez might be a good defender ya know
It's the reason why they'll likely win the league again. Setbacks just don't seem to apply to that club right now.
Well, we haven’t looked very good, Van Dijk or not. We’re winning games through virtue of our talented attackers, none of whom are injured right now. Against City, every time they pressured us we looked like we could concede a goal.
And we’ve seen what happens when TAA gets injured. He’s one of our most important players, even if he is a shitty defender.

Ornstein on Greenwood:
At play are concerns over the 19-year-old’s dedication to maximising his considerable talents. Solskjaer said Greenwood missed United’s victory at Everton on Saturday after reporting ill and The Athletic understands the forward had also put in a lethargic display in training on Friday.
United only returned from Turkey at 4am on Thursday but sources say that, even with such mitigations, Greenwood’s work rate at Carrington put his place in the starting XI at risk. As it happened, he did not even travel with the team to Goodison Park for Saturday’s 3-1 win.
It was an episode that raised renewed questions within United about Greenwood’s activities outside of the club. There are doubts over whether he is getting enough sleep, as a consequence placing his immune system in jeopardy and undermining his concentration levels.

This has been a busy morning in Portugal.
Benfica and Santa Clara´s offices were searched by the police for suspicion of corruption, Sporting's offices were also searched by the police that are investigating a money laundering scheme by one of the club's main investors (Sporting has come out fully supporting the investigation) and now there's news that one of U23's was accidentally shot on the chest by a "friend" in a gas station in the early hours of Sunday, he is fine though and already at home.
