If I'm being honest I'm not a fan of this, it gives too much of an an advantage (on top of the existing) to the top 3-5 clubs with depth in their roster.

Please do not call them my lads. Our old manager was undefeated in 34 matches straight (!!!), but he was Norwegian and our FA thinks he played boring football. So now we replaced him with one of the many mindless pound store tiki taka freaks, who had his debut as Denmarks manager the other day, losing his very first fucking match.
