Grizzlies are a youngry team and a great one to support, imo.
Yeah, it's ok if you only know the huge stars. There are plenty of personalities in the league and they usually come out pretty obviously during play.
Everything is based around the ball going in the basket. From that standpoint, the game is simple. However, there are various rules that determine what is legal and that can be kind of hard to follow. Picking up a used or super cheap NBA 2K game may help with this.
Also, a lot of things happen away from the ball that often determine how easy or hard it is for a team to score. Noticing it requires you not to always look at the ball, which is very difficult for inexperienced viewers. I wouldn't really worry about this too much just starting out, though. 2K also helps teach why this is important, even though it can be pretty arcadey in terms of what kinds of plays work.

NBA teams in violation of COVID-19 guidelines that cause other teams to be impacted could be facing some unprecedented penalties this season.... why not just slit Harden's wrists while they're at it?
The league said in his latest Safety Protocol that violations that lead to COVID-19 spread that causes schedule adjustments, or impacts other teams, could result in, "fines, suspensions, adjustment or loss of draft choices, and/or game forfeiture." It will be interesting to see if this ever actually comes into play this season, but the fact the language is out there in print may make teams and players think twice before making certain decisions. Add in a ban on bars and clubs and it should be a very quiet night-life season for the NBA.
