Besides donations and PR, post-games interviews should be dedicated to social justice for the rest of the playoffs.
I had a close friend pass away. I don't think i'll be watching basketball or posting much for a while.

I can't help but feel disappointed in that sequence of events, or at least how it's been detailed. Teams like Philly have had team-level discussions about the actions they'd take, and coaches had sessions with DeRay Mckesson on police reform, but it didn't seem like the league have had enough time to come together as a whole. On JJ Reddick's podcast, Landry Shamet mentioned that Wednesday meeting was the first time all teams had come together.
People have repeatedly put down the protest, but I figured it'd at least give them a break from the playoff prep-play-recover cycle to focus on the issue at hand. To go from a meeting with two teams walking out, a 15 minute follow up, and then agreement to play without consensus on a concrete short-list of demands seems rushed.

I'm kinda with you there, but sitting out was the Bucks decision alone. Everything after that was showtunes, ESPNisms, and attaching far more to the act than focusing on the act itself.
I see people are focusing more on Pat Bev's "interaction" with Michelle Roberts if Twitter is any indication. He's starting to trend now.

Pat Bev doesn't understand the economics of where revenue comes from. Also stating for the court that he's currently a clipper

ESPN LA was like “this day will be taught in history classes”

So after all that on Wednesday, the NBA will establish a committee and air more ads with social justice issues on ESPN. Cool.

That's cool I guess. I can't wait for the uproar when someone in a MAGA hat shows up to an NBA arena to vote.

It’s an more open like air environment during a pandemic while the USPS is being fucked with so yeah ... that’s actually a good idea. I think dodger stadium was also considering this
It's a good idea but it does nothing to address police brutality and systemic racism in America.
It's kinda tired to just yell "please vote" when voting for a candidate is so basic and doesn't actually lead to legislation being passed.

Refusal to entertain the same groups of people who want to see minorities harmed (or do it themselves: cops) still makes the most sense. But I'm not gonna say definitively what anyone in the players position should absolutely do especially if they're not a huge star and subsidize entire extended families.
By reilo Go To PostIt's a good idea but it does nothing to address police brutality and systemic racism in America.Especially when the issues around police violence specifically are very local and there's not a ton of national policy to fix it. In some instances, there's not even legislation to fix the problems, since they're baked into awful police union contracts and such.

This is a great move by the league. Voting actually could help solve these issues we just have to get people to vote on boring shit like comptroller and state legislature. I know this is for a national election but encoraging people to vote is always a good thing. And the 'voting is not enough' message would have some merit if people were actually voting. As it stands it's not really productive.

Agreed there, but going on strike without a clear idea of what you want to extract leads to this shit.
In general higher voter turnout benefits democrats but it's something that is being taken for granted. My worries are two-fold which I don't think what the NBA is doing ultimately matters:
1) Higher voter turnout might not always benefit democrats
2) Voting for democrats hasn't really lead to meaningful social justice reform in a very long time
