Defense is Nash tier, but he clearly the best player after Luka. Yall wouldn't be talking this type of stuff about Ja Morant who gets roasted routinely.

You see it all the time from teams that aren't going anywhere for a few years. Let the young kid inflate his stats and be the face. Then when coaches and GMs get on the hot seat and it's winning time or another prospect shows up looking genuinely better, it gets different. Tyreke had Jordan comparisons out the gate and Philly put a label on cooking fraudulent numbers.
If Trae was legit, they'd be in the playoffs instead of the fucking Nets of all teams. Squads could not out-tank how bad the Hawks were.
loluka the future god
Trae trade/pick is working out for them, just needs players and didn’t someone get suspended on the hawks too? Like how Ayton was suspended
Phoenix wanted a center and it kinda made sense but still could’ve gone double guard/ forward like Boston with Luka, it works with Jaylen x Tatum in a small ball era.
Kings fucked up big time so they deserve the most blame

By blackace Go To PostThe Hawks were that bad despite Trae being pretty good.Hawks were pretty bad because even teams like the Cavs could run a layup line on Trae
They got more young talent than most of the teams ahead of them in the draft. It took Trae sitting for guys to realize that they might actually decent if they got into rhythm. Hell, a few regular touches and suddenly Huerter and Reddish aren't busts anymore.
Not having a rim protector will do that for ya. He a 2nd year player and he will probably get stronger and that will help him on D.
By Branduil Go To Post2 is too high for current Simmons. Even if you think his offensive problems are partially due to Philly fuckery I'd still take 3-5 over him.You are crazy.
e: Simmons would still likely go #1 in that draft. His impact on defense is insane. He is the All-Star instead of All-NBA version of Giannis.
By friskykillface Go To Postloluka the future godAyton was a defensible pick at the time. Trae and Luka both had similar questions coming out in the draft except Trae was much, much, much smaller but had the label of a better shooter. Bagley was a who da fuck?! moment. And the Kings went from one of my favorite teams to me just disowning them because of it.

People around here were super high on bagley for some reason (I think cause one of the radio people in town who is a national college basketball writer was). They were pretty down on Jaren till they realized he was 7 foot Klay

They were pretty down on Jaren till they realized he was 7 foot KlayI can't remember what order I had them in, but Luka and JJJ were my top two favorite picks going into that draft. JJJ much for the reason you stated. A large, mobile big that can is willing and able to defend basically everywhere on the court and able to launch and hit a million 3s.
With Luka, I just figured him being able to get MVP of the top division of the top league (iirc) outside of the NBA at age 18 meant he was going to be incredible. On offense, anyway.
By Kibner Go To PostYou are crazy. The problem with Simmons is his lack of shooting means you HAVE to build your team around him, but it's not clear that he could ever carry a half-court offense as a first option. Someone will try eventually, I'm sure.

They have no chance of going ahead of Simmons in a redraft.
You can build an offense around Simmons the problem is it is really hard to do it with a traditional center
By Kibner Go To PostBuilding around Brogdon, Sabonis, or Murray is a sure way to have an even worse team than the current Hawks. They have no chance of going ahead of Simmons in a redraft. The point is you don't HAVE to build around those guys, you can just slot them into your team and it will work fine because they're versatile players who can do multiple things and, you know, shoot the fucking ball.
We already know you can't do that with Simmons. If he doesn't have the ball in his hands he is literally worthless on offense.

By blackace Go To PostIf you could rebrand Simmons as Billy Owens/Draymond with sense you could build a team around himWhat's funny is there are multiple rumors warriors may trade wiggins/#2/next years Minnesota 1st round pick (only top 3 protected) for Simmons. Deceptive size and speed, extremely shifty, sees the floor well and has the confidence to shoot any shot.
I'm actually really shocked he's only .316 from 3, dude form and arc signals much better consistency.
the worst thing you can say about luka now is that he chases stats and fucks around too much

I'm sure he'll figure it out. He knows he can get his shot even without the longball, he certainly has the confidence to shoot more efficiently and his form is solid.
He should be able to get around James Harden's ~.36 rather easily, which would most likely put his scoring at the same gaudy levels. Completely respectable percentage for a ball dominant volume shooter.

His handle for his size is damn good, gotta compare it to other players that are 6'8 230 and not just small point guards.
The problem with Simmons is that you put the ball in a guys hand who isn't actively looking to do anything with it in most half court possessions. Guys like Lonzo and Ben want the ball in their hands in order to be the ones to make the pass but they don't do the work to get guys open which is like 90% of the job.
I don't think the answer to getting better is trading either of them. The answer is/was getting a lead guard who can create his own shot and drive the ball and make sure the ball is in his hands most of the time.
Something like Lowry / Simmons / Embiid would be money well spent. The idea Brand had of allowing Ben to be lead guard and trying to surround him with talented wings was *okay* but it should be clear by now he shouldn't be the primary ball handler.
New GM should look to move the Tobias/Horford contracts and invest draft capital to the PG position.

Simmons isn't even good offball. There's so much attention on the fact that he cant and won't shoot that all his other problems are forgotten. That dude straight up vanishes from the game for long stretches at a time and you'd think that Simmons/Embiid would absolutely punish opposing teams inside in late game scenarios but they're both studio rebounders.
