Today is the big day, win or lose it's been a hectic season. We started so, so bad in the league - can't believe we won it coming back undefeated post coronavirus.
I'm hoping Zidane has a trick up his sleeve for today, he usually does for big games, just wish we had Ramos on the field.

We'd have to try very hard to replace Aurier with someone worse.
As much as I don’t like Aurier he’s had his uses. If you ignore his tendency to foul players in the box - which obviously you can’t in practice - there’s not a great number of right backs with the same skillset
By Linius Go To PostLol we're being linked to Sessegnon on a loan. Please God no. Probably tabloid bs anyways.
There’s like zero chance you’ve seen him play enough to oppose a loan move for him that strongly
Aurier having good attacking stats is a symptom of how few outlets we've had this season. He has so many opportunities to cross and fucks them up so often, but he's bound to have decent assist numbers regardless

:lol was just thinking
I always tell the anecdote about David Beckham. When we signed him in 2003, we did it at 11am to make primetime news in Asia, where he was popular. It was the usual drill: the player says it is a dream come true and the president says you were born to play with us. Our data showed it became the second most watched global social event in history, after Princess Diana’s funeral. Can think of one more high profile televised event between 1997-2003.

I don't mind how good he is. I don't want to develop players for other clubs. It's no good for us to have a good player for one season knowing he's going again after the year is done. If it were an emergency signing when it's close to the deadline and nothing else is possible, sure. But not right now, there's plenty of time to act on the transfer market to buy someone that suits our style of play and we can develop to make money on.

makes perfect sense to me.
he's 20. has barely played. in a lesser team than ajax. who have their own talents.
if anything, i'd be surprised be if he hadn't opposed that move so strongly.
besides, doesn't everyone in this thread just go off of youtube clips?
Sessegnon dominated the Championship at age 18. He could do well for Ajax, despite not really playing much last year. Maybe Ajax has someone they have in mind to fill that spot for the 2021/22 season and a stop gap like Sessegnon is preferred.
Yeah that's the only plausible reason I can think of. He can play as left back as I understand right? He could possibly replace Tagliafico if that's the case. We have Salah-Edine lined up for that position in the future. Lisandro Martinez can also play there. But I think EtH is intending to keep him on our midfield. Oh well, we'll see what happens. But loanees are usually short term solutions and I'm not really a fan of that.

Today Sunderland were MURDERED by the EFL.
Time to write to my MP??
For the premfaces: we now have an enforced wage cap which amounts to rougly 1/10th of our last published revenue.

I'm not sure. All I've read is that pretty much everything else is encompassed, from the standard wage to image rights and even agent's fees.
But it was pretty widely accepted this was coming, and players already on the books count as an "average" wage. So for example Will Grigg won't be on the list as taking up whatever exorbitant bollocks he's getting but instead whatever the League One average is. So we should have done our recruitment before now because I'm sure the likes of Garbutt/Fraser/Szmodics could now EASILY double or treble whatever we're offering with some Championship relegation shitters.

Sunderland hiring scouts? I think we have 1 and our "chief" scout role is currently open as Tony Coton (lol) left last month.
By Laboured Go To PostI don't think lampard should be nominated either but talk about ignoring context when comparing last season to this one

Strong yes if we can
Dier, Toby, Davinson and Skriniar would be a strong set of CBs, but surely one of the ones we already have would ask to leave if he came.
