By Xpike Go To Postkronke just going to turn arsenal into an American football franchiseIs he perhaps unaware that tanking for the draft is not a thing in football?
By JesalR Go To PostExcept it's pretty much never the correct decision. The millimetre lines rely on the frames being perfectly accurate to the point that a pass is played, but they never are. In a single frame a fast player can travel a huge distance, over 10cm. The idea of being offside in a single frame by millimetres is facileIt's still significantly more accurate than going with a 'gut feeling' and guessing, people have become so hyperbolic about VAR when the truth is football now gets far more decisions correct than it used to.
By Willkiller Go To PostDo most people even want VAR at this point? For the vast majority, yes.

The Eric Garcia news is a bummer but that is a risk you take when you sign a Barca youth product. If they're wanted, they'll probably want to go back home. Biggest frustration will be how little City get out of selling him back. Think it'll be like 10-15m tops. Hopefully they agree to some sort of decent sell-on fee..
I guess some of it makes sense reading the Arsenal piece (matchday revenue being such a big part), but still feel like the optics are just a disaster. Interesting to finally see a percentage regarding the wage cut. I won't blame the players because I can't say I'd want to give up a lot of my salary, but given the comparison to their contemporaries, I'm surprised the reduction was that low. I figured 20% was probably the minimum they agreed to.
PL clubs not sticking with 5 subs will look stupid if the majority of other leagues do. Just like the decision to change the transfer window despite everyone else not doing it, it will be a set back for clubs competing in Europe if their opponents are not operating under the same rules.
By domino Go To PostI wish they'd get rid of VARThink we're just used to it now. VAR can improve over time. Some of the rule changes that accompanied its introduction have not been good though and exacerbated the issue.
As much as I like replay in football goddamn I hate it in soccer

By JesalR Go To PostWho's saying go with gut? Watch the video, watch the motion. Stop being such a fannyThis quest to be less accurate is hilarious, either do it properly or don't bother at all. It's like having the greatest pair of tits in the world & all you want to do is cover them up with 5 layers of jumpers, the fact this is even a debate is asinine.
Does the on pitch referee still do VAR himself like walk over to the screen and watch or do separate refs away from the pitch do it? Can’t remember
By Perfect Blue Go To PostDoes the on pitch referee still do VAR himself like walk over to the screen and watch or do separate refs away from the pitch do it? Can’t rememberI think after the restart the PL gave refs the option to look at a pitchside monitor but I don't really remember it ever happening. Not frequently at least. It's all decided by others in a booth remotely in London. MLS does it pitchside and has been letting you listen in on the discussion with the other ref in the booth lately which is pretty cool as a viewer.
VAR should be:
1. VAR refs watch the game from multiple angles live
2. If VAR refs see something wrong, they tell the ref on the pitch to check on the monitor
3. Ref then decides whether to overrule previous decision
Instead the PL decided to make the whole process extremely slow and painful

I’m reading that the deal for Hoyboy is effectively £3 million + Walker-Peters. Decent for both clubs I think.

Likely the 10m fee figure we heard about also in, no way he's getting only 100k.

Good business from Levy, at least we have filled the most important position in the team. Having a competent sitting midfielder will give the team a better balance and stop giving unsuitable defensive responsibility to players like Winks and Sissoko. It would also allow Ndombele to have some kind of role without needing to sacrifice solidity to accommodate him.

Anything that gets Ndombele into the team is good I reckon. We need more star quality in midfield to compete with the best every week

Preview of Leverkusen - Rangers. Fantastic that Gerrard's hairline is still where it is. Truly the GOAT.
happy birthday inky!
just watched a clip back of steven fletcher in the league cup final when he let the ball run out instead of just shooting from like 6 yards
its genuinely just fucking ruined my day fuck this

If Chelsea can get Rice and Havertz, my god. A lot of depth and quality added. We need to be smarter in the transfer market. Thought Spurs getting Sessegnon for almost the same price as Daniel James was much smarter considering age and what they had shown at the point they were bought. That's not to say that Sessegnon has been more successful in his first year at Spurs, as he hasn't really played much this season, but at the time he was a smarter buy.
I would like Grealish because of how good he is and his personality, but for the price he would go for, don't think it's worth it. We need to be smarter. Sancho is an exception based on his age, performances, and ceiling. I don't mind spending a lot on that kind of talent.
We should be looking for players who will be 1/3 the price of Grealish for similar production. Benrahma would be a potentially smart buy. Almost similar production when both were in the Championship last season, at the same age. Grealish just got the chance to play in the PL where as he hasn't. And there's no guarantee he would succeed and make the step up like Grealish has, but don't think the difference in transfer fee reflects that.

do people actually rate declan rice? every time I've seen him play he's been aggressively mediocre
happy birthday inky

Jamal Lewis is a very good buy especially at that price. City should be trying to sign him or Aarons.. sell Zinchenko if he'll allow it. Mendy will be too difficult to shift I'm afraid, so if Joao Cancelo is going to be a LB regularly then we need another RB where Aarons would make sense.
