By Meier Go To PostMalang Sarr on a free could end up being Chelsea’s best signing this window. He was definitely regarded as a super talent for years and a high quality left-sided CB can be hard to come by. I couldn’t believe it was a free transfer when I saw that mentioned. Are you going to buy the home or away kit with Messi on the back?

Send him out on loan; best case scenario he turns out to be amazing and we got a new starter or a quality backup, worse case you can sell him on cheap for more than he's cost you on wages.
By Yurtlicious Go To Posthe absolutely said that ahahah there's just no way they recognized him AND knew he was a captainI didn’t know he was their captain before this tbh. Would have figured it was a longer serving player like DDG.
I didn't
By FootbalIFan Go To PostAre you going to buy the home or away kit with Messi on the back?Bro, I am not thinking that far ahead yet. Not gonna let myself get too excited yet. I will buy the away shirt at some point this season though for sure.
People did notice that Kun changed his Insta screen name and removed 10 from it. 👀
I'd forgotten that it took us 6 weeks to sign AWB. That was a relatively straightforward transfer, but we kept haggling despite gaining very little in the way of concessions from Palace. And we started negotiating for Maguire in May only to get him a week before the window closed in August.
I presume any signings we make this summer, if we actually make any, will follow a similar process of protracted negotiations and in the end signing him for what was originally quoted. Same thing happened in January. Everyone knew we desperately needed a creative midfielder and a back up striker. Started negotiating for Bruno early in Jan and only got him a few days before the window closed. Don't know why we conduct business this way, but it's clearly our style.

Madness to think Manchester United not signing anyone in the entire window is actually a possibility considered by their fans.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostMadness to think Manchester United not signing anyone in the entire window is actually a possibility considered by their fans. Its not like there is anything we can do about it. Clearly we (the club) need players but we (the fans) don't have any way to actualize it.
We'll panic buy someone, but it will just be another underwhelming rotation option that won't influence games. A Grealish type (not him tho).

Pogba is back too.

We have about 13 good players. Lose our first team and we are fucked. Especially our front three. Fred and Bailly the only good replacements, really. Maybe Williams too.
James and McTom get stays of execution but everyone else is not good enough.
the amount of times our players get injured in a season...we are fucked. Well lucky Greenwood came in and adapted straight away.

I guess you're bound to get injuries when you only have 13 good players?

Chelsea have a bunch of high wage easy "must go" players.
Arsenal and Spurs are a bit trickier and Liverpool have nearly none. Keita, and what they might do with Grujic and Wilson are probably the most interesting, but none really leap out.
Who are United's?
Keeper situation is still developing, but will be a thing at least in the papers; CB options with Rojo, Bailly and Smalling, and of course Lingard and maybe Mata? Definitely seems like an additional attacker is needed because after Ighalo and James there's not much backup to the front three. Think that might be why someone like Barkley has a chance to stay on at Chelsea too despite there being clearly a ton of competition in the middle.

By n8 dogg Go To PostChelsea got a lot of deadwood to get rid of. Kepa, Emerson, Moses, Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Batshuayi…
Kenedy
Piazon
Baba Rahman
Most of those won't really be a problem I imagine, hell even Kepa will probably want to end up taking the pay cut and go away. Too young to rot away on the bench, and still seems to have a decent name in Spain.
its okay his contract runs out next year so worst case scenario we get CL money again the same year his wages free up
By Hitch Go To PostJust sign players who don't get injured like VVD, Mane, Salah, Firmino, Robertson and Wijnaldum

By Laboured Go To PostAll false
The last section seems to sum up most of the article. It's a huge gamble to try and force this move without paying or brokering some type of amicable deal.
I know Tomori has been listed as a loan cadet, and that's fine and makes sense, but I'd really hope we can outright offload Christensen on someone. He's hard to watch play. And the last two years is enough to see he doesn't have it.
By Cleff Go To PostDoubt it
Chelsea are making promising signings but it will be a challenge to integrate so many players at once, especially as so many are meant for the first XI. Werner, Ziyech, Chilwell, Havertz, Silva plus a new keeper, that's a lot of changes at once. It was a disaster when we tried to do it after selling Bale so it will be interesting to see how Lampard handles it.
