I mean, it's extremely lucrative to get sacked as a football manager. Especially in a situation where you can just blame it on the fact the club is in meltdown.
while that is true, money isn't why he's doing it. he's been wanting to manage them for years. when he was presented as oranje manager, he lied about having a barca clause. he just really is smitten by the catalans.
but i think it's naive for him to take the plunge right now. the team and the club as a whole are a total cluster fuck. and even if he does make it beyond the first season: i doubt he'll survive a new president for too long.
plus, he doesn't even care about beautiful football, never has; the man is literally a result-driven manager.

He was adamant about not taking the job until after the Euros. He didn't want to abandon his national side. Covid changed everything and I'm pretty sure he knows it's his last chance. Next administration will not be looking at him for the job anymore.

The answer is sitting right in front of you m8: if Barca were in any sort of good health he would never ever be offered the job and he knows that full well. He's smart enough to know that a Barca on its knees is the only time he'll ever get to manage them.

Did you see Koeman's interview with Fox Sports in Dutch? He said he would have never accepted the job if it were only for one season. He literally said "Ik wil niet de olifant zijn door de porseleinkast stampt". So either Koeman is very dupeable or Barca is very good at lying. Probably a bit of both.
