What a ride, I didn't know much about this game going in other than I wanted it cause open world and samurais. Definitely exceeded my expectations, one of my favorite PS4 games, gave me a similar satisfaction level of "now that was awesome" like I got with Horizon.
I can't believe reviewers were saying this story was bad.

Sucker Punch did some games I enjoyed more or less, but there was nothing in particular standing out. Their last title was okayish as a launch window title and I really enjoyed the superpower aspect that isn't tied into some comic universe shit.

However, the game had massive problems with alot of things, especially the empty world.
Anyway, fast forward I'm really enjoying GoT for what it is. It's not a standout title either, but it's just a well crafted game that is pulling the right strings. Nothing special on the technical aspect, the storyline or the gameplay, but those aspects are just working well within the game. The artistic choice and scenery that is just beautiful despite some ugly textures.
The storyline that doesn't go over board and isn't totally nuanced, but still delievers a nice adventure and enough different aspects, that is just alot of fun to follow.
The gameplay is working better than similar games like AC. It also just doesn't throw everything at once at ya and still gives you more and different things throughout the course of the game.
Sekiro had the far better blade game, Witcher the far better story and sidestories, TLOU2 the far better presentation, but as a package I really enjoy GoT.
To get back to your story point. I'm still not done with the game, but I'm honestly more suprised that they're actually trying to escape that media imposed Samurai image at times.
Packing in stuff like slavery, abuse of power, child abuse, invasors that aren't just trying to kill the population and are actually using specific tactics.Nothing about this stuff is outstanding writing, but those things are done well enough to work within the game and deliever a really good experience and most importantly a really good overall package.
Really happy they didn't follow through with that game that we saw a week ago and that got cancelled.

The skill of their artists is pretty high. Favorite artists from them are Monika Pałosz, Claudiu-Antoniu Magherusan and the Gerald Parel
Adrien Wilkins who works for Karakter(wtf another german studio) is also great
Have to say I'm impressed with how well the wind works to direct you around. Based on videos before launch I thought it would be awful but I'm pleasantly surprised by how good it is.Except in the snow.

endgame - I killed him too, it felt like the proper way to conclude their story and it's what he wanted rather than what Jin thought was right/wrong

Don't know how many more hours I'll get out of it. Might just get a class up to max and try the raid when it drops.... but its damned good for what it is. Especially considering how many other games have failed at doing this type thing. The new enemy types just fit in perfectly too (except for the Tengu demons and devil dogs. Fuck those things).

Sekiro is a lot different.
Legends co-op is pretty straight forward. Kinda like ME3 MP or Destiny strikes. Game knowledge and experience has led to ransoms being generally much better at this point too. I like it. Fast paced 20 minute runs feel right.
