TI11 starts in 19 hours
Not very excited for it given the gap and different venues between group stages and finals, feels like we're just going into another qualifying round rather than the start of the main event

Christ
Is he the same lad who got booted from his team for drawing the Z on the minimap a few months ago as well?

By NiceGuy Go To Postpls stop trying to get a venue full of socially stunted nerds to engage in audience participationno, never stop. it's the only kind of cringe comedy that i enjoy
that was such a well played game by thunder awaken. masterful splitting of team fights and coordination of cc and damage
This RNG-Entity match has been brilliant, 75 minutes in
Not a huge amount of kills but there's so much going on in the fights, they're lasting so long, and there are so many units on the map. Feel like matches like this should end with the ancient actually being taken, rather than just ending on the ggs.

I thought I wanted no time between series and games, but now I'm not so sure
Feels like eliminations are just forgotten about as soon as they happen since there's hardly any analysis or hype-building.

By NiceGuy Go To PostFree non-BP arcanas at the moment, get to choose one. I don't use any of the heroes available :(When you posted this I reinstalled dota lmao, but just the thought of playing 10 games made me uninstall immediately.

What a boss
Hey there! I totally feel you on the lack of excitement for TI11, especially with the gap and different venues. It can be a bummer when it feels like just another qualifier round instead of the main event. But on the bright side, at least we get to see some sick MOBA action, whether it's LoL, DotA, HotS, Smite, or HoN. Can't wait to see who comes out on top. Make sure to click to read game blog for more updates on the MOBA scene. Let's hope for a sick TI11. The time has come to revive this thread.
I think they might have massively overdone the map resize. The lanes are ridiculously wide and featureless, you could land a plane in them ffs
3W3L in my placement matches so far
My level is only Guardian, one tier above Herald, but I really hope it puts me in there or just above it. Climbing out of Herald is an absolute nightmare, the path down is much smoother than up at that level. Go low enough and you're lucky to even get a match that lasts long enough for the stats to count.

When you win an 85 minute match with a carry-vs-carry base race after a truly woeful run of form 😎
Absolutely fucked it the game before with PA, got a couple of early kills and then spent way too long away from the creeps looking for more kills which never materialised, and by the time I got back to farming I was too far behind to even farm jungle camps safely or quickly.

TI12 starts today
Bit disappointed they're doing the split events again, makes the first one just feel like qualifiers

Talon vs GG game 2 is Dota at it's best
Unbelievable ability timings, mid-fight plays and brave calls in the heat of the moment. Just stuff that I can recognise when it happens, but am completely incapable of thinking about, let alone pulling off.

23savage legit the only player who can still make Morphling look like he should be in the meta from what I've seen over the last few months. Surprised Void went for him with two chronos when the first was such a whiff, just a complete waste of the biggest ability they had when he's got his strength shift off before being frozen.

He timed it perfectly to protect against Luna’s ult. Spell was used and whiffed. Saved that team fight, imo.

TI13 bracket system starts in just over an hour, think it'll be a few days still until they're in the arena though
Not really happy with where Dota is at the moment tbh. Facets and innates have overcomplicated things for me, and the heroes that I like playig and watching aren't viable. Melee and late-game cores are in the bin. Reckon the number of unpicked heroes might be at an all-time high which is a real negative.
Maybe the stats don't support that at all though, just the feeling I get from the draft commentary and fifteen or so matches I've seen from the group stage.

I like facets because it is a way of introducing a lot more hero variety without having to wait for a ton more heroes to be added to the game.
As far as drafts, maybe the group stage was a bit samey, but the bracket play has been pretty diverse, imo. There have always been the same ~20 heroes picked/banned 80% of the time in every tournament that I can remember for the longest time. The only exceptions I can think of were that Virtus Pro squad that won a tournament while never picking the same hero twice, the first TI winning OG squad, the first TI winning Spirit squad, and maybe that TI Wings squad (memory a bit fuzzy on that team).
e: teams have been quicker at identifying the OP meta, countering it, and developing a new OP meta in response than in the past, too
