By bud Go To Posti have not read most posts, but the area and encounters after you get the arrow and the bow is so fucking good.you'll still get there no worries
this game gives me very good mgs vibes. and it feels so good and it's so visceral.
it really opens up once you're dealing with human enemies.
very dumb question incoming: where is the hospital? do i still get there or should i have already visited it?
also, at times, i almost forget how stunning the graphics are. games like death stranding (kojipro's art-direction is phenomenal) and gt sport (its true beauty isn't unlocked until you see it with hdr enabled) are very good-looking, but this is actually jaw-dropping.
on ps4, i have never been this impressed by a game's visuals and attention to detail. this is on a totally different level from what i've seen.
does anyone else feel dina's character model looks off? it almost looks cartoonish in a way. maybe that's just me.

I was going all out during the hospital encounter, realized how many supplies they had, restarted and stealthed it.
I've never had so much crafting material and bullets ;_;

Are any other ND characters captured from a real actor? Didn't know they did it, for named characters at least.
By Hitch Go To PostAre any other ND characters captured from a real actor? Didn't know they did it, for named characters at least.Last of us seems to be the first that they're doing it but only sparsely. Ellie is based off Ashley Johnson but is edited pretty dramatically. Same with Joel/Troy Baker. Some other NPC look familiar to me so they might be 100% based on their scan like Dina.
The NPC in Jackson with the guitar and dog is the composer for the series.

hahah, she really does!
n8 gonna love everything about Abby
jfc this flashback infected hotel level is filthy, from level design to setpieces to encounters its got it all.
Bud there's a character called Isaac, I want you to pay attention to his mouth lmao. Ridiculous ticks, ND showing off.

that flashback scene with joel and ellie in de museum, specifically the scene where joel hands her the tape and tells her to close her eyes and he starts tearing up was also really impressive (and very heart-warming).
I'm sorry but how the hell is the framerate stable like this
imagine what they could do with a cocaine laced SSD

Just started playing as Abby again and my only thought is there no way Mel's baby would have made it anyways the way this bitch climbing around like a spider monkey
By bud Go To Posti have not read most posts, but the area and encounters after you get the arrow and the bow is so fucking good.Yup. Ended up with only a melee weapon when the smokes came in.

Very sweaty game on survivor
By Hitch Go To PostAnyone else playing on survivor, did the clickers in the supermarket seem to be detecting you even when you were stood still?Maybe it's because I hadn't played the first one in a couple years but the early clicked encounters were surprisingly difficult. Piece of cake now except when they start to mix stalkers in. Always a frantic mess with those.
By Facism Go To PostYup. Ended up with only a melee weapon when the smokes came in.Same. Thrilling.

Might be a survivor thing but bricks and bottles are fucking scarce
Also, I thought I found a good spot in the mall to pick the WLF off, then they started throwing fucking grenades
On day 3, so far Ellie hasn't done anything suuuuuuuuper wrong yet.

Damn, this is getting Sy's seal of approval for combat design / encounters? I wasn't gonna cop until the PS5 version inevitably drops, but I might just have to watch my PS4 Slim take flight. 🤔

I'm just as shocked. I was never going to bother with the game since I really disliked what I played of the first game, but the enthusiasm for it in this thread is overwhelming me.

I keep thinking these environments can't look any better but then they keep introducing better looking environments. The chapter after Seattle Day 3 has me :O
These setpieces are too much fun :)
But unlike Uncharted, they actually deplete my ammo :(
After Seattle Day 3 spoilers
imagine choosing Mel over Abby
if you look down from a decent height, you'll trigger a mini panic attack :O
-Manny is a Ghibli stan lol

maybe it's because i never liked joel that much but I'm fully onboard #teamabs
That scar whistling is some cool/scary shit.
The trainyard scar encounter might be the first less than exceptional combat arena, design wise at least. 1 lane, with the train cars for cover. Doesn't work from all approaches, from my multiple tries at stealth because they hunt in pairs. Only really shines when you aggro the fuck out of it.

By Lunatic Go To PostNot liking how enemies with unlimited clips drop zero bullets or 1 bullet if you are lucky.Yeah, one of those design decisions I'll never quite agree with. Same with not picking up & using their weapons. I think it would only add to the gameplay if enemies could also run out of bullets and start running away. Some enemies run but only from me murdering all of their friends.
Also, the double barrel shotty hits different

By Pizza Go To PostThese dudes with the pickaxes will fuck you up. Grisliest kill animations I've seen yetI could swear they don't die immediately with headshots either, one of them came at me with his nose blown off
had to shotgun his arm off just to stop him
This, I assume, final section kinda feels like a slightly more serious Tarantino movie.
Edit: Just beat it. Last encounter and scene was pretty good. Overall I'd probably give the game an 8. Good stuff.

By Lunatic Go To PostNot liking how enemies with unlimited clips drop zero bullets or 1 bullet if you are lucky. If it's like tlou 1 they don't have infinite ammo. A few times I've seen enemies spunk their load followed by a click followed by terror as I chase them with a brick

okay I finished it. No spoilers or even hints of ones whatsoever so don't worry
it genuinely exceeded my expectations, I had a blast and I wasn't expecting something original after TLoU 1. I'd say every risk they took paid off in spades especially when it comes to the narrative
Is it the greatest story driven action adventure? Easily, absolutely, but I feel like only because its genre is heavily dependent on tech and this is state of the art shit. ND are fucking wizards I was consistently in awe till the last frame
Is it the best game this gen? Well I don't know what that even means, not for me, ymmv, like someone out there might think Apex or DMC is the best this gen, and they aren't wrong per se. Might go down as the most beloved? Maybe. You can't say one game is better than the others because it pushed its own genre, we have lots of other genres that can't exploit this tech and style as hard, and they don't even need to. Give this engine to an RPG and it would mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.
not gonna slap a score but I'd recommend it to anyone for sure
my homework is done, Shanks.
