It's not about betting against Cerny. It's about betting against last minute changes. With PS4 the last minute change was doubling up RAM from 4 to 8GB. This didn't effect thermals that much.
Thankfully, since PS4 is loud enough as it.
In all honesty, the smarter move would have been to just roll with the 9.2. TF box. Who cares about that anyway? Considering we already know that mid-gen refreshes will again be part of the plan and Xbox is running the first 2 years with crossgen 1st party titles a stronger console that could accommodate all changes necessary would have been right around the corner.
I don't understand why some want to turn this discussion into a console/PC gamer thing.

all three quotes might as well be right too. Was the PC scene dead during the PS3 era? It kinda was barren, yes. Was PS4 the perfect gaming PC? It depends what perfect means when you say service and simplicity, because it was just that. Better in terms of what? We don't know about the last one yet but given that we're in eventually territory, it might well be for a bit.

If there's one screenshot that I refuse to believe isn't touched up it's this;
the motion blur, iq, depth of field, character models, etc are too perfect. Even if it's from a cutscene.
The horizon shots have onvious and apparent IQ flaws. Most of the Ratchet and Spidey images are too flawless to believe.

I watched the DF PS5 video and John mentioned that a UHD drive is like $20 now. So it won't be a massive savings for Sony to give to consumers. The added value obviously comes from the software sales, but even that doesn't appear to be enormous.
