Think what we absolutely need is some depth. We can risk it like Liverpool, who have an insane front three who hardly ever get injured, but their midfield is what’s stacked. Helps they have generational talents like TAA obv, but they have five or six really good midfielders. We have three, and then Fred who is absolutely a good player but is probably still Liverpool’s fifth or sixth best.
There's definitely A LOT of player improvements, that's for sure.
We actually score from crosses now. Our players know how and when to attack in the box.
also most importantly, our players can handle pressing, and being pressed.

By Scum Go To PostYou can have Dier.
By n8 dogg Go To PostYep. Wan-Bissaka in particular, but Fred, Greenwood and Martial have all improved as well.
More assists than Chilwell and Walker (but less goals). Obvs Robertson and TAA the benchmark but neither a shade as good at defending.
So strange to hear Puig said that way after hearing the Cuban pronunciation for so many years with Yasiel Puig.

Buying for depth is dead difficult mind.
By Scum Go To PostLook at UnitedSla&ent, Freewilly. They're enjoying football again.
Innit, Scummo.
Looks like RM are finally going to win the league (that's la liga in Spanish) in this, The Year of The Plague.

By Laboured Go To PostAnyways while all of Barca implodes can we steal Riqui Puig pls. He's good
His battle with Partey throughout the game was the most entertaining part of the match
Congrats Real Madrid.
The VAR decisions were absolutely insane, especially the Ter Stegen incident.
I am a strong believer that Real Madrid has benefited much more from this empty stadium scenario when compared to Barcelona.
Real at home were a mess because the crowd would constantly get on their backs, while Barcelona were far more reliant on the crowd support especially in home games. Real have played with far more freedom and expression, while Barcelona have carried their away form to the camp nou.
As for player performances, Suarez was completely invisible for the entire match and the fact that he was there at the final whistle tells you everything about the state of affairs at the club in terms of coaching, player depth and club politics etc.
Messi was excellent as he always is, but Riqui was the stand out from the rest. Extremely tidy player, constantly looking for space and penetrative passes.
Everyone else in the starting eleven besides those two and Ter Stegen, Lenglet and Pique may as well be sold off. The club is fundamentally broken because of terrible aquisition planning, wage structure and socios(voting bloc) who have consistently failed to remove Bart and his gang of idiots from positions of power at the club.
With a board room that is full of cunts of the highest magnitude, these issues will never be solved. Their panic buys after the Neymar humiliation have rendered the clubs' available options in the market as non-existent. They wasted the GOAT and after he retires or his form drops dramatically, we will be back to early 2000s Barcelona form. And that it is completely self inflicted, is the best part about it all.

Why has Griezmann been struggling to make his mark? Are there issues in the dressing room or does he just not fit the system at all?

By NinjaFridge Go To PostWhy has Griezmann been struggling to make his mark? Are there issues in the dressing room or does he just not fit the system at all?Suarez is not willing to yield his spot up top is one reason, but the system we currently employ negates Griezmanns positive attributes as well.
Had he been part of the 2015 squad, he would have seen much more success from an individual point of view, as that squad was extremely keen to hit teams on the counter, something that is a foreign concept to the current Barcelona side.
We are far too slow in movement and our passing is so predictable and honestly quite negative that he stands no chance of making a huge impact unless from set pieces. His ideal position is up front, either as a striker or in the position behind one. Right now he is relegated to the left wing and the old guard in the squad keep demanding play time no matter how bad they play, so that is where he will remain unless he leaves or Suarez disappears.
By inky Go To PostI don't like to toot my own horn, but there you go. Read between the lines and you find copious ammounts of shit.
Seems pretty fucking plain to me that Barca has a bunch of lads who are talented going through the middle and fuck all else. It looks like a team that.... has had no planning in its construction.

Griezmann is actually a good pass and move type player but he's played 80% of his games left wing which hasn't worked for us

He should release another La Decision video.

But we're winning because we're the best team in the league m8, not because of VAR. Would be nice for once if you Barca bro's took off your tin foil hats when you lose, like, learn to lose properly.
We were better H2H and we're better facing other teams. We had a dip in form before COVID-19 but we came out guns blazing with Hazard/Asensio/Vini/Benz all in great shape, not to mention our midfield and leader - Ramos. Shout out to TBO too, he might be the best keeper this season in La Liga. We have a really good defensive shape this season, you can tell Zidane is putting the work in that department.
This being said, the league is far from over.
It seems like Barcelona just went for the highest profile player they could get without ever actually considering how he'd fit into the side. Griezmann excelled at Atletico playing either playing behind the striker or cutting in from the right. Which is exactly where Messi plays.
The BLUF of it all regarding Barcelona is that there are clearly "clicks" within the ranks of the team and that is hurting the team overall. You can tell Suarez and Vidal are only really there and getting the minutes because of Messi - who feels like is someone that has the club by the balls. Though I admit Vidal has been a good signing, but he's only really good when used as a power sub. All the other kids and younglings are whatever.
Atsu, Puig and whatever other talent they have will not be here in the coming years. They will be forced to buy more and more.

Feels like both Setien and Valverde are rarely playing with width, partially because they don't really have the players to do it. Just trying to think of the last major footballing superpower that successfully managed to do that.
Christ, I'd forgotten about Coutinho. Another player they didn't need, whose preferred position was through the middle.
at the time i thought getting griezmann was a huge waste of money, now i know it was a huge waste of money
Seen analysts on Twitter go in on why you pretty much never buy anyone at 27 for a premium unless they are Messi / Ronaldo level.
idk what why barca thought it was a good idea at all to buy 2 super expensive AMs when they have messi
