By Frustrated_me Go To PostIs Klopp the best manager right now? If so, who is second and third? Liverpool did incredibly well singing him, what a get in retrospect really. I knew he was good and had success with Dortmund but I didn't think he would be this good with Liverpool.Kloppo is certainly the best manager in terms of I'd take him over anyone else but I'm also biased as fuck haha
I could still cry that he left before his contract ran out. We really should have just done a complete rebuild under him instead of basically completely rebuilding anyway under worse managers. But I guess I also get that Klopp didn't want to ship off all of his lads that brought us to a CL final.

Have read City want Koulibaly. Which would be a top signing to play with Laporte. Their LB position still continues to be an issue.
Also Rodri is no where near as effective as Fernandinho was in that CDM role.
Will be interesting to see where Liverpool go from here. Title winning form over the last 2 seasons. Hopefully they slip up and the rest catch up.
Fight for 4th could still come down to the wire. Chelsea still have Wolves to play last game of the season. We have Leicester last game of the season.

Obvs I'm concern trolling here but interested in what Liverpool's strategy is for replacing Salah, Mane and Firmino, who are intrinsically integral to all of their recent success, and who are all 28.

If he's still at Dortmund in 2021 I can see Pool going for him.

In the 2020 game? Not necessarily.

Koulibaly is 29 now. Obviously still good, but who's splashing record money for a player that age? Di Laurentiis probably waited too long.
Congratulations to the Liverpool fans wherever they may be. Klopp is an absolute legend for what he has achieved in such a relatively short amount of time.
Don't think there's another active manager who could have inherited the situation he did, and made us champions in reasonably short order, especially with the standard City set. Even if they haven't reached that standard themselves this season, they've forced us to become absolutely relentless in order to compete.
Won't feel real for me until there's a proper crowd to celebrate, but it'll happen at some point. Looking forward to just watching this team play for the rest of the season. I don't think there's an asterisk next to the title win, but the circumstances have made me pretty much unbothered by the records.
Champions will do innit.
On Koulibaly, having seen the difference VVD has made, I'd say go for it if you're in need of a centreback, even if his prime will only be another two or three years. Won't pretend to have seen a lot of him outside of games against Liverpool, but his class has been apparent every time.

By Doicare Go To PostLiverpool didn't win the league because they made the decision not to buy anymore players, Liverpool won the league because City got worse due to Laporte, Sané, Aguero & a host of other players getting injured as well as City being ridiculously unlucky in several games such as the Tottenham ones. The only thing that City messed up themselves was not buying a replacement for Kompany.Nothing has changed.

I'd like Chelsea to get him. Our current CBs are all good, but we don't have one that can consistently dominate. Christensen was apparently great last night, but there's no guarantee he will be next match.
In that respect, I don't think we're that different to Liverpool pre-VVD.
I put a lot of hard work into it ¬¬
Get rid of Mou pls, can't be doing with 3rd and 4th being fought over by Man Utd and Chelsea
Still blows my mind how far Henderson has come over the years. From Commoli flop digging his heels in rather than be traded for Clint Dempsey, to good AM, then a potentially career-derailing ailment, to good DM, to rubbish DM, to very good CM captaining us to a Champions League win and our first title in 30 years.
What a lad.

By Doicare Go To PostJones - 50m
Yep that's right you get Phil Jones & United will also give you 50m cash.
I'd say anyone would take it and just keep him benched forever but then you'd have a Constanza effect where he would make all your other defenders worse.

Yeah I'd like to see a pretty much whole new first 11 v Norwich. Assume it'll be what you said but with Lingard instead of Gomes (sadly).
Interesting thread. I think it’s right in a lot of ways (Leicester were an anomaly), but ultimately the PL’s appeal comes from that big 6 being challenged by the likes of Wolves, Leicester et al. Wasn’t too long ago it was a big 4, or Liverpool finished eighth, or Chelsea 10th. Arsenal are currently below Sheffield United. While it’s always going to be one of these clubs (well, maybe not Spurs) that win the league, it’s those little differences below the top 1/2 that makes the PL great fun. A bad season for Real, Barca, Juve is finishing second. A bad season for us can result in fifth, sixth, seventh.

Think we'll see Fred and McTom start against Norwich. Matic brings the necessary defensive cover we need when starting Pogba and Bruno. So expect him to start the league games.
Also want to see Williams get a shot with our strongest 11. Shaw is fine. Decent one on one defender but I'm convinced his concentration drifts in games. A lot of full backs are told to stay more central to block through balls to the box. They then close down the wide areas when a winger gets the ball. But Shaw is so slow to get there in those situations.

It's also that the kind of games we have now in the league (Brighton, Southampton, West Ham, Bournemouth etc.) mean we'll need Bruno and Pogba as rested as possible as they're going to be needed to unlock those kinds of teams who will sit deep.

Our post lockdown games have been quite refreshing in that we've managed to create chance against sides that sit deep. Pogba and Bruno are the obvious catalysts for that. But Spurs were very adept at countering. Need Matic to cut those off.
Think we're in a good place, especially as Rashford has yet to hit top form. If we can get him back to the level he was pre-injury we'll have a very potent attack.

28 is young in 2020 football. Problem isn't the age, it's the repetition. Can Klopp keep motivating the team to go beyond the threshold?
