The Yankees said DJ LeMahieu and Luis Cessa are currently isolating at home without symptoms after testing positive for COVID-19.
As long as LeMahieu remains asymptomatic, he'd seem to have a good chance of playing second base for the Yankees on Opening Day. First, though, he'll have to test negative twice before he'll be allowed to rejoin the team. Cessa has had mild symptoms, according to manager Aaron Boone.
Freddie Freeman's wife, Chelsea, says the first baseman has experienced "body aches, headaches, chills and a high fever since Thursday."
It was revealed earlier today that Freeman had tested positive for COVID-19. Thus far, no one in Freeman's immediate family has experienced symptoms.
DJ was definitely the team MVP last year, no question. Shit might change if play actually starts, but I'm so "meh" on this season right now, I'm not even sure if I want them to play. Ridiculous 60 game schedule, players testing positive and getting quarantined, others opting out, what is even the point. This season is barely more than intramurals, if it even happens.
Major League Baseball announced Friday that there were a total of 66 positive tests for COVID-19 during the intake process. Not as bad as some of the other sports but obviously not good.
That's 66 out of 3,748 total samples tested, which equates to 1.8 percent. There have been an additional 17 positive tests during monitoring testing, bringing the total of positive tests to 83, which is 0.7 percent of the 11,149 samples since the start of intake screening on June 27. 28 of the 30 teams have at least one positive COVID-19 test either via the intake screening or monitoring testing.

Star outfielder Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a massive 13-year deal worth more than $380 million that would keep the former American League MVP from reaching free agency this winter, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.GOT DAMN
The deal, which could be agreed upon as soon as Wednesday, would include the 2020 season, sources told ESPN.
The Dodgers acquired the 27-year-old Betts from the Boston Red Sox in a blockbuster trade over the winter, giving up outfielder Alex Verdugo and shortstop prospect Jeter Downs with a guarantee of only one year – and the hope that he would consider re-signing before hitting the open market.

Opening Day of the 2020 MLB season is finally upon us -- four months later than originally planned.
While this season will be reduced to 60 games, and there will be no fans in attendance at least initially, because of the shutdown forced by the coronavirus pandemic, professional baseball is set to resume tonight with a pair of marquee primetime games involving four of the league’s most prominent teams. The action begins at 7 p.m. ET when the Washington Nationals—the defending World Series champions—host the New York Yankees, a team that is tied for the best odds to win it all this year. The doubleheader concludes at 10 p.m. ET when the Los Angeles Dodgers—the projected top club in the National League and World Series co-favorite—take on a bitter NL West rival in the San Francisco Giants.

Nationals placed OF Juan Soto on the 10-day injured list with COVID-19.Nationals are done. The way this shit spreads I'd be amazed if no one else is positive.
Soto has tested positive but is said to be asymptomatic at the moment. This is a nightmare scenario for the Nationals and for Major League Baseball with Washington set to host the Yankees on Opening Night. At the time of the announcement, first pitch was just five hours away. Soto obviously won't be in the Nats' starting lineup on Thursday and he may have to miss multiple weeks of action.
Yankees/Nats called a final. 4-1 NY through 5 (Yankees had runners on the corners with 1 out in top of 6th).

The Miami Marlins' home opener against the Baltimore Orioles Monday night has been canceled, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan, as coronavirus cases continue to pop up among the team.
The Marlins remain in Philadelphia and continue to undergo testing after their weekend series there.
Eight more players and two coaches with the Marlins have tested positive for coronavirus, as an outbreak has spread throughout their clubhouse and brought the total of cases in recent days to at least 14, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN.

Updated article: Offiically postponed, and....
The Yankees begin a series in Philadelphia Monday night and would use the same clubhouse that the Marlins used. Sources told ESPN's Marly Rivera that the Yankees have been informed that the visitors' clubhouse has been completely fumigated several times. The Yankees also brought their own clubhouse personnel down from New York City to work the game, if it happens. No decisions have been made yet, sources said.

Hi all, I posted about this over on Era but realize some of the old posters who may have known him from the GAF days might not actually post there at all any more. I'm sad to share the news that rc213 passed away due to Covid-19. He and I along with nanoghost were sort of a Dodgers triumvirate for nearly 20 years and it is really sad to experience baseball without being able to talk about it with him. I was lucky enough to go to a game with the two of them when I was visiting LA for a wedding a few years back.. so glad I got that opportunity.
He passed away back in April a day after we'd chatted a bit on Twitter. He was in the hospital but had been moved to a recovery area and was able to tweet a bit. I only found this out last week after realizing his Twitter account was inactive and then doing some googling and it was like an absolute gut punch when I confirmed my worst fears. I emailed a bit with his sister after finding out the news and she said he was buried wearing Dodgers attire. RIP Rigo.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29553630/mlb-postpones-all-marlins-games-sunday
Major League Baseball has postponed all of the Miami Marlins' games through Sunday after the team's recent coronavirus outbreak.
MLB announced that Miami's next six games, starting with Tuesday night's home game against the Baltimore Orioles, have been postponed, citing the belief that "it is most prudent to allow the Marlins time to focus on providing care for their players and planning their Baseball Operations for a resumption early next week."
The postponements were announced Tuesday among a series of scheduling changes involving four other teams.
The Orioles, who were scheduled to host the Marlins in a two-game series starting Wednesday, instead will host the New York Yankees for games Wednesday and Thursday.
The Yankees were scheduled to play the Phillies in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, but that game officially was postponed "out of an abundance of caution," according to MLB. The Phillies also were scheduled to play games Wednesday and Thursday in New York against the Yankees, who now will be traveling to Baltimore instead.
Also impacted by Tuesday's announcement are the Washington Nationals, who were slated to play a three-game series starting Friday in Miami against the Marlins. A majority of Nationals players voted against playing the Marlins earlier Tuesday, according to ESPN and multiple reports.
Four additional members of the Marlins tested positive Tuesday for COVID-19, according to ESPN and multiple reports, bringing the total to 17 members of their traveling party.
Additional schedule changes will be announced later this week.
