Fighting Leviathan….ouch?
Judging by the background NPCs, I guess if you're born with stupid hair and a desire to only wear bespoke clothing you designed in 3rd grade, you're destined for greatness in this world
swear to god one of the roads in the end is identical to some shit from ff13 lmao

By blackace Go To PostIt is amazing when we get early year GoTYs… like X-Com 2, phew…the game has some of highest highs in a jrpg ever
but the lows? whew. they don't really become apparent or sting until chapter 11 or so. the flaws are real but you genuinely won't give too much of a fuck
Goddamn Aerith is OP. Trying to put all my chips on Cloud but Aerith is just shitting on him dps wise.
My brain seems to be broken
Can't even remember a fucking 4-button combo in these pull-up challenges when the diagram thing disappears. Just barely scraped through the amateur one, this is going to be a nightmare.
Imagine not having a quick restart for things like this in 2020
edit:
Have that you cunt. Did it first time after turning the music and speech off, his pace at the end is ludicrous until he falls with about 7 seconds left.
Don't look at Jules, Tifa, or the timer. Just keep an eye out for the fatigue button.
Gonna have to switch things up on Hard mode, Barrett is my healer since he stays at range and doesn't take as much damage as the others as a result, but his magic growth is dogshit.
edit2: get fucked Leviathan 😎

By Hitch Go To PostMy brain seems to be brokenit wasn't about remembering, more figuring out where it's gonna go next. You were basically ping ponging and then passing it to the last one

are the rewards even worth it for these mini games?

By Yurt Nomura Go To Postare the rewards even worth it for these mini games? It's worth doing the squats as they're pretty easy, and you're bound to have someone in the party who could use the accessory you get for it. You get the exact same thing for doing the pull-ups, so it's only worth doing if you have two party members who are playing much the same role, as my Tifa and Cloud do. Plus I wanted the trophy innit.
+1

Hoping whoever designed the pull up minigame got put on making shitty mobile games. It literally rubberbands and randomly slows down the cursor
Shinra HQ looks beautiful
From the outside at least. Can't stand far enough back to get it all in shot. Fucking Nomura.

Wtf
Do any other party members have little efficiency mechanics like the way you can charge Barret's triangle attack during the recovery from his normal attack? Cloud seems to be the opposite, can't figure out how to exit Punisher mode smoothly
By Hitch Go To PostDo any other party members have little efficiency mechanics like the way you can charge Barret's triangle attack during the recovery from his normal attack?Sorta. Aerith has a weird charge cancel that I've never quite figured out. Her abilities are strong as hell though. Use arcande ward all the time. Every time. Doesn't affect just her either. Have your teammate start casting ahead of time then make Aerith drop a ward on them. + Magnify
Tifa can loop some wild shit once you get parry. Starchaser or whatever it's called can't be interrupted (generally) either.
Cloud's punisher mode switch has the counterattack frames, yeah, but he can also switch right back into normal, then punisher mode, and set right up again. It's tricky, but you can abuse stagger conditions on certain enemies doing that. You can try either dodging out of punisher, chaining into disorder, or any other ability.
Huh, never thought about starting a spell ahead of time for Arcane Ward. The cast time on the level 3's is crazy, I get knocked out of them all the time. All that mana and gauge charges :(

All of Aeriths stuff is great because you can cast it on another party member's location for full benefit.
Also, the character you're controlling will always generate more ATB meter.
I really like the way Summons work btw
There are more than enough fights to be able to see them without spamming them in normal battles
Auto-Cure is a really nice QoL thing for a hybrid combat system like this, shame you can't edit the thresholds though. Wouldn't want them to go too far with stuff like that though, wasn't a fan of the Gambit system in XII.

gotta say as someone experiencing the story for the very first time, all this fuckery is pretty damn awesome. I dunno whats new or what they changed, but everything is working (so far). Peak hype for the antagonist(s)
still wondering who that Klonoa figure that showed up for a split second several chapters ago. We'll see...
or not

By domino Go To PostMan I gotta go get this new tv tomorrow so I can start back playing. A 32” tv ain’t worthy of thisit's not all bad, some of those texture issues would be less jarring on a smaller screen.
I have a 4K TV. but I actually opted to use my tiny old one so I can play in bed lmao
listen I can't deal with Tifa's 4K boobs in quarantine
edit:
Rufus boss fight I'm quite impressed Square!!! What a fucking audacious fight!

GUYS question about the epilogue I'm gonna assume the whisperers are new to the remake? And that we just basically changed our own FF7 fate? So the story could actually go anywhere now?!? THIS IS EXCITING
if you're a fan of the original and you DONT actually like this then I dunno what to tell you. you essentially have a brand new story of your fav universe starring your fav characters

Yurt. Yes.
It was fucking exquisite. One big example of changes is Rufus. He's NOTHING like that in the original. Dude's drip is outrageous. He was a dweeb who hid behind the Turks and was on his young Trump shit. I think he only had 500 HP in the original or something. Absolute pushover. Now he's pump faking you with coin tosses and doing gunkata. and if people hate that on principal then they are wrong about life in general.
And yeah, the whispers are entirely new and are kinda referenced in the title ironically. They're basically the force that resists change of the timeline. Some would call them reddit lol. But the game isn't a remake in the sense of a production, it's remaking the timeline - the game is a sequel of sorts to the movie Advent Children. It got absurdly heavy handed but I'm with it. Anime happened. That's enough explanation for me.
A lot of fights, moments, and character building points are really different but the tone is always consistent which is great. I'm still legit shook. Their use of the original soundtrack to kick certain moments up was A1. The og soundtrack is cool, yeah, but seeing Aerith's old room as the music changes hits the feels proper. Cloud becoming a real character for example too more than a whole game originally. He needed crisis core and other shit and he was still generally inhuman. Dude is developed better in just Midgar than all of that. It's kinda unbelievable tbh
What a game though. All faults aside, and they're definitely apparent, there were so many moments I couldn't look away or contain a genuine smile.
