After I touch up my backlog a bit, I'm gonna end up buying and playing a lot of the FF games again. Well played SE.
Haven't had the urge to revisit FFX in years but here I am

I’m on chapter 16 I think right now in hard. Maybe 17? Just got to the training sim.
FFX marked the end of the world map. Will never forgive the game

It's painful in some respects
Have to replay chapters 3 and 9 so many times. Done 9 about five times now, and have to do it again

I’m not even paying attention to trophies lol ... will see what the list is after hard play through. If I have to play the early chapters a bunch again I’ll pass
May get the remastered version of 8 after this ... don’t hate

By Perfect Blue Go To PostYou can't get it again? How come?
The really good material doesn't re-populate in hard. The two elemental materias and the magnify materia are different in hard mode.
(2) elemental the whole game
(1) magnify the whole game

Can you get another auto-cure? Only have one total.
By Hitch Go To PostCan you get a third Chakra?
I've got two, and haven't seen it in any shops
I think I have more than two though I'll have to check. I think I have at least 3.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostDamn wtf.

I think I only have the one.
That being said … I almost never use it anymore. I don't have materaia space when optimizing fights on hard. I would rather use another MP up or another HP up. Maybe even an MP absorb or something like that. Pray becomes such a necessity.
I feel like I only use Barret for magnify barrier and pray. Magnify Barrier is a must. Manawall on all parties remembers and pray to heal leaves so much more magic for attacks and revivals if need be. An individual heal spell is more of an emergency use for me right now If I time my character swaps and ATB builds up well I can get two prays off for almost full heals to the whole party.
Finished the game yesterday.
The first game I finished this entire generation if you exclude FFXII Remastered and original FFVII for PS4.
FFVII is my personal GOAT. I've beaten it so many times. It feels timeless. I love Remake, it's incredible. But there are issues, and some of them are filler that are the tedious and repetitive puzzle solving. There's just so much 'puzzle' solving, unlocking doors, or finding ways through. It really begins to bore you, because the game is largely linear and no matter what, you are given the answers on how to get through a closed path (hey, find this switch, do this, and then proceed). This aspect I genuinely disliked, there's just too much of it.
But the battles, ooooof. Love the battle mechanics. Love the story. And I am genuinely shocked that they are taking the story to, seemingly, a different direction. Ending spoilers: So is Zack alive? If we've killed the whispers…have we altered the future and the past?
SE should've been developing Episode 2 as the finishing touches were being placed on Episode 1. I'm worried about how long it'll take Episode 2 to come out. Hopefully before 2021 ends. What I'd like to see is Episode 2 be truly open and allow us to travel to the nearby villages on foot without too much interruption. Don't oversize the locations, because parts of Midgar's slums simply felt too gigantic and confusing. After Midgar, FFVII's charm and quaintness really started to come through as you were open to the world. I always loved that.

Anything platforming is an abomination. That’s tifa chandelier section wow.
Could climbing through a vent be less impactful?
I’ve skipped 95% of the story on second play through and don’t miss it.
The game on hard is just a blast though lol still loving it

Yeah, the vent crawl could've been a simple and quick cut-scene.
Tifa platforming around in the Shinra lobby was also dumb.
A lot of stuff felt like the video-game equivalent of stat padding. There are a ton of things that the game designers knew if they didn't stretch out, the game would go from being 30 hours long to 20 hours, and were aware it would piss off people who have been waiting for 5 years. But then there's people like me who get annoyed at the filler...
Seriously though, if they will indeed be releasing shorter episodes for the sake of faster releases, Episode 2 needs to have less filler and let the sets of the original game speak for itself. I'd imagine Episode 2 will include the same travel limit as the original did, and could possibly stop right after you get the Buggy, which opens you up to another part of the game's world map. Thereafter, Episode 3 could stop when you kill Palmer and get Cid's Tiny Bronco. And then Episode 4 could basically extend to the end of the game.
It’s funny cause as much as it shit on the game, I love it.
I’m really pissed I have to do chapter 9 more though cause I’m missing some swordsmith shit ... I really don’t like chapter 9 lol
Edit: also ... I have three chakras

Bahamut was WAY harder than the actual Ultimate Weapon but damn, good stuff. Now to just run through the game on Hard and I got the plat.

How did you down Bahamut on Hard?
I used Magnify Barrier for manawall and pray A LOT. Then I had basically one attack spell and a bunch of purple stat buff materia. No elemental materia. The fight wasn't that hard with this set up, honestly. As long as you kept manawall up and constantly prayed while attacking with Cloud and Tifa.
I"m on the last of of the fights before the ??? in the level 17 combat simulator on Hard. The combo of Bomb and the Tonberry fucked me up the other night on like phase 4 or 5 of the fight and I put it down for a minute lol.
By Fenderputty Go To PostHow did you down Bahamut on Hard? The one I was having trouble with was the one you fight during ??? which is harder than the one you fight through Chadley. One big difference is he summons Ifrit at 50% health. Here is my load out for the challenge itself with maxed materia and everyone level 50.

Cloud (Twin Stinger) - 2x HP Up, Steadfast Block, Time, Barrier, Revival, Heal, Elemental (on armour) + Fire, and Revival Earrings.
Tifa (Purple Pain) - 2x HP Up, Barrier, Revival, Heal, Steadfast Block, Elemental (on armour) + Fire, and Revival Earrings.
Barret (Light Machinegun) - HP Up, 2x MP Up, Steadfast Block, Magic Up, Barrier, Magnify + Heal, Revival, Pray, and Revival Earrings.
The weapons I use all have Reprieve which is probably the best passive skill in the game. It lets you survive any non-insta death attack with 1 HP so I would just burn that when Megaflare comes from Bahamut and heal right after. Revival Earrings there just in case something goes terribly wrong lol. Cloud and Tifa's are well rounded weapons in general. Barret's LMG is light on damage, but it has a passive skill where healing spells cost much less so I used him as the main healer. Everyone has Revival, Heal, Steadfast Block, and Barrier to back up the others in the event of an emergency.
Strategy is mostly simple just watch everyone's health and heal/revive if needed. Used Manawall sometimes but didn't really need it that much when Barrett is just a magician at healing and everyone has over 9k health. Cloud's Counterstance easily dealt with Divebomb.

what a nice no fucks up allowed set up
I never finished the original. Did Tifa have a different personality in that or have people always just been a fan because she has big tits?
Because she has ZERO character.
Because she has ZERO character.
By Hitch Go To PostI can never tell who the Divebomb is being aimed at :(
Which is another reasonb I liked magnify on barrier. Manawall made megaflare fairly survivable.
Fuck tonberry mother Fucker s
By Laboured Go To PostThere we go it's a streaming issue.
I figured this was the case, since I actually DID see the textures load properly sometimes.
I read today that Episode 2 has been in development since early 2019, and that the whole team transitioned to full-time development in late 2019. They were quotes by Kitase, from an interview in Dec of 2019, I believe.

Planning on how to make the actual meat of the original game two more self contained corridor runners?

But fucking hell if doesn't end strong.

Sounds like a translation error, if anything. It's pretty big to say that they've had the entire team on Episode 2 work since Q4 2019.
very much doubt that considering the texture streaming bugs in the game indicate that they were still trying to manage the memory budget of part 1 right up to release.

Finally went back and beat Hard Mode. Starts off a little rough when you're trying to get used to it but it wasn't bad at all. I was even able to one-shot most of the Hard VR trials. Now to clean up a couple of trophies.
Chapter 8 is rough. I get it but it's so deliberately slow that I just want this to be over eventhough it's expanding Midgar and has some beautiful sections.
I appreciate slowing down a bit to breathe after the intensity of Ch 4-7, but this is a crawl.

cloud has a walking down stairs animation but not a walking up one.
edit: the boss in the demo was fun. might buy but wish I could just fight bosses.

Haven't been back since I reached chapter 17 about a month ago, even though all I need for the plat is to finish the game again and do the final arena.
Can't remember how many bosses are in this chapter, and how to ration my MP.
