Starting a rewatch. Haven’t watched since the last episode aired.
Really loved it at the time, but have always been too scared to go back and watch it. Didn’t want to have it not feel as good as first watching it.
Just finished episode 1.
So fucking good. Does a great job of setting things up.
Firing up episode 2 now.

Always found at episode 3 at should completely hook you.
Episode 1 is a little clunky but is still great.
Episode 2 gets up to speed and 3 is firing on all cylinders.

I remember thinking it was slowwwwwwwww until Kima got shot and then I was fully invested. Second watch works from minute one.
Need to watch again. Been a minute.

By Batong Go To PostBeen four years according to the this thread maybe I should do it as well for a restart.
Do it, would be nice to have a watch along with someone.
Is the Hamsterdam stuff based on anything in real life, or feasible for the time? I found it a bit silly when I watched it.

Started watching We Own This City last night and whilst I am enjoying it every time an actor from The Wire pops up I can't help feeling I should just rewatch that instead. To be fair as n8 said The Wire starts slow so I am willing to give this more time.
I forgot how good this shit is.
Omar still one of the GOAT characters.
Same, thought it was ridiculous.

By Laboured Go To PostI thought WOTC was extremely gud. Up there with Simon's best stuff. Stick with it.Agreed. He builds an incredibly compelling web and shows very transparently how every social system interconnects, operates with an incredible lack of accountability.

Kensington in Philly is basically Hamsterdam.
I just put on the first episode to get a feel for it and I'm already ready to start episode 4.
Maybe I should call in sick tomorrow and just binge season 1.

By n8 dogg Go To PostLester my favourite character. What a performance.Coolest kid on the block, especially how he picks up Shardene in season 5 😎
Lester is so good. Easily the smartest giy in the room always.
Episode 109 is amazing. Starts off with showing the difference between Stringer and Avon.
Stringer thinking about how to deal with Omar as a business man, but Avon thinking about it from the street view. (Stringer says the same thing in the previous episode but there is no response from Avon)
My memory is very hazy because it has been 18 years, but I feel that the episode is pivotal. Sets up a lot of things that will play off beautifully.

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostEvery time I see Orlando, he just screams dumb arse.Pimpin' Ass Lando.

Hahaha
Oh my gosh, and he rats out Avon first time he sees an interrogation room.
Completely forgot about him.
Finished season 2, doesn’t hit the same way season 1 did, but still great TV.
Best moments are Omar in court and McNulty banging the whores while the raid is happening.
Also, didn’t post it but the ending montage and version of the opening theme that plays at the end of season 1 is godly.

Season two is probably the most important to understanding how exactly the entire street economy functions though. There's a lot of out of town influence and the character of the Greek is supposed to represent how it happens and why it's impossible for a police force to stop.
I loved 2. It was a fantastic palate cleanser and showed that crime wasn't only in hood. Weaved in beautifully imo
Season 2 is lowkey the best season.
Laughed my ass off when Mcnutty stumbles drunk off his ass to Kima's appartment.
That's one confused white boy.

On season 5, nice seeing the Generation Kill book easter egg.
Might give that a rewatch next.
Was also thinking of doing Deadwood, but feeling like an Oz rewatch.

Would it be a Deadwood rewatch? If you haven’t seen it, you should. Incredible show with pantheon-level performances from McShane, Dourif, Weigert, Sanderson.
