By Vivalabanter Go To PostWell that's probably not going to happen m8.wouldnt rule it out as long as we avoid the big guns like monaco
Next season will be a much better environment for the young players. Europe = more PL time and also we get another chance at the league cup which LVG managed to massively fuck up this season. I still don't know what he was thinking with that shit line up. Ruined it for the young players with that bullshit.
By GQman2121 Go To PostWhat's Rojo's current status at United? Everyone keeps listing CB as an area of need, and it's looking like Hummels might be the buy, but they're carrying like five players at that position currently. Who is left out?I like Rojo
But 3 of our CBs you cant count on because they are rotating injuries and always have been, no evidence to claim they are going to stop being injury prone in the future.
Imagine having 3 wilsheres in your defence.
I want to be happy, but watching us barely crawl over the line for 4th has me worried unless we make some decent acquisitions. Evans is done ans appears so is Rafa.
What of Valencia and Jones? Falcao and RVP?
do we promote Wilson or loan him and Janu out?
can Smalling and Shaw stay for a whole season?
What have Blind and Rojo taught us?
Will DeGea still be a red by September?
We need a settled and ready team by the end of July and I cant see that happening

By Blaburn Go To PostWhy Blackburn Rovers' title win should rank alongside United's Treble and Arsenal's Invincibles
Yes and no. Couldn't sustain it, they combined big money transfers with astute purchases (like all title winning clubs)... but Blackburn Rovers being PL winners is madness.

Valencia has to be happy being a squad player, as does RvP, Falcao is likely gone
Wilson is wasteful but very quick, id keep him if we dont buy another striker
Janu, fuck knows, I have absolutely no idea
Blind is a great fill player mostly for LB and tells us we need an actual DM/Link player, Rojo is fine.
De Gea not in my eyes, I think he will go quick.

Saw that save he made (was it yesterday? Whenever it was) being shared around Twitter. Was great.
By Mr Cola Go To PostHeres the thing I dont know, I dont know if we got better midfielders whether our current crop of strikers would turn in big numbers or whether we need another striker in addition to those new midfielders.
The finishing has been woeful at times, Falcao has had 1 shot on target in 12 games, but the service has also been mediocre
It's more nuanced than that.
Firstly there is just the clear evidence to suggest RVP and Falcao are well short of where they need to be. Sluggish, poor touches, slow to get shots off etc.
Then there is the question of how the team functions. Even yesterday, Falcao actually made several good runs and picked up good positions but the ball didn't go towards him. I think Van Gaal wants to build a team that doesn't seek to create chances for a striker but with a striker as just another element who helps to build the play and disrupt the opposition back line. That's not something either Falcao or RVP are comfortable doing right now.

Rooney did fantastically well against Pool and City in that regard.

It's quite weird that he hasn't left the club yet because he is a really good keeper and would do well for plenty of clubs in the C'Ship and maybe even lower end of the PL.

Maybe we've got an eye on him if DDG leaves then.
Really not keen on Lloris.

Where do you put Rooney then?
GNev said during one of his games where he didnt touch the ball that he had his best game for Untied playing between the lines of the CB's, looked to me like he did fuck all. He plays crossfield balls that have gotten worse over time and people are obviously looking for them when he picks it up, intercepting as they come down.
What sort of striker in PL or World Football fits the mould? Benzema?
Benzema's right, yeah; genuinely brilliant at moving defenders around, making good runs, selfless in terms of his contribution to the team.

Can't be that though can it. Sam Johnstone isn't going to get the GK'ing gig at United is he, can't see it. LvG probably would go for it if he really believed in him, though. But nothing to suggest he does.

I would keep playing Rooney up front. And possibly in that "number 10" role that Fellaini has been in. I don't like Rooney there but he produces goals and chances and if the other players in the team, especially in CM, are able to dictate the match then it could be okay.
Lewandowksi would be ideal. I think that's why the links with Cavani persist too...cos he is a tireless runner and is able to join in with the play. I am sure there are other players out there too, just don't really know what's up and coming in Europe outside the best teams.
Congrats on the 4th place trophy United. Now you only need an RB, CB, DM, CM, CF and RW to start competing for the real ones =)

We got Shorty but she's never interested in that. She just leaves the whatsapp when she gets annoyed as well. Shorty please fight. Sadly Salvador has stopped posting much, she was a good poster.
Was gonna say Lewa as well, but like Viva says the reason the Cavani links keep popping up is because he's available. If we could get him for a decent price I'd be delighted, but that means playing Rooney elsewhere, and also like Viva says, not a fan.

On some other long forgotten forum, not here, I predicted Liverpool to finish 5th. Suarez was that important. So it was never a surprise. The fact that UTD have been so inconsistent and for periods full of poo poo is hilarious. They'll not it get it wrong twice in a row. They make the signings that they need to and solidify top four.
For the clubs looking up below, the glass ceiling has risen a wee bit higher.

Could have won it. What a passionate team, keeping Napoli at a draw. Who wouldn't want to buy this club with their debt?

suarez was important, but not that important. its just that the whole team took a nosedive in quality and performance.
So, final muppet summary. In an ideal world
De Gea (Valdes)
Clyne (Valencia)
Smalling (Jones/McNair)
Hummels (Rojo)
Shaw (Blind)
Schneiderlin (Carrick)
Herrera (Gundogan)
Di Maria (Fellaini)
Mata (Januzaj)
Rooney (van Persie)
Depay (Young)
But likely to see DDG move on, Schneiderlin go elsewhere, Gundogan to die and Hummels kept imprisoned by Penny.
Gonna be a tough summer lol

Like I said the other day, think Chelsea could still be alright if they relied on all the youth next year. Solanke, Ake, Brown, Christiansen, Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah. Settled Cuadrado. Van Ginkel back.
I mean, I know that won't be the case and Chelsea will buy because they're Chelsea, but it would be interesting to see.
