By Pac-12 Go To Post…mask isn't so much protecting you as it others…. though maybe it protects you a bit…8 Yankees tested positive, all are so far asymptomatic. It's quite possible they tested positive and are not actually infected as the antibodies that keep the virus from infecting your body differ from the ones that exist in nasal passages.
But yeah, I say keep wearing masks. I mean, fuck, like 8 Yankees ("members of the travelling party", as they say) recently tested positive for COVID, and all of them have been vaccinated. This includes the 1st base coach, 3rd base coach, SS Gleyber Torres, and who knows who else (no other coaches or players have specifically been named). I mean, hell, Gleyber Torres tested positive for COVID during the offseason, got vaccinated, and still tested positive once again this week.
It seems like having COVID before doesn't stop you from getting it again. It again seems like getting the vaccine also does not stop you from getting it. Yes, perhaps and hopefully so, it stops you from having the most severe symptoms, up to and including hospitalization and death, but if you can have COVID, and if you can have the vaccine, and you can still later test positive for COVID, can you still spread it? MLB thinks so, or else the Yankees coaches and Gleyber would not have been sidelined.
Keep mandating the fucking masks, and don't let the anti-vaxxers and Trump-cultists off the hook.
So far, having covid absolutely stops you from getting it again and is the best protection against the virus outside of never interacting with people. Confirmed re-infections are ridiculously low.
"Owning the Trumpers" isn't a good reason for policy. Those associating masks as a part of the political identity will eventually have to get over it.
This is good news, its further evidence that vaccines are working and one more reason for those who were putting it off to get vaccinated.
By AlphaSnacks Go To PostI thought you can test positive but just remain asymptomatic the whole time?
Maybe. But even still, Gleyber can't play, and the coaches can't coach. Maybe the CDC will tell MLB to not give a fuck, I don't know.
But I still say mandate the fucking masks, because we already know a high percentage of dipshit Americans (largely Republican, equally largely White Evangelical Christians) don't believe a) the virus is a problem or b) a vaccine is the solution.
If you lift the mask mandate for the vaccinated, ain't one goddamn thing stopping the unvaccinated, either.
Sure, if the CDC could assure me that future mutations of the virus in either non-vaccinated or actual vaccinated people would not impact vaccinated people, great! But as far as I know, there's still a fear that the virus could mutate further and spread from unvaccinated people (let alone the possibility of it mutating into deadlier forms within vaccinated people), so it seems rather fucking short-sighted (and, really, naïve) to say all is clear.

It's not about owning the Trumpers. Tens of thousands or perhaps hundreds of thousands of goddamned idiots are about to die over some goddamned ridiculousness because they chose to trust absolute fucking assholes (such as Trump, or whomever the fuck else was trying to support his movement) and not trust science. (I'm actually fine with that, because fuck them all for believing in bullshit.)
Except their idiocy has already fucking killed who knows how many people, and if their continued idiocy leads to mutations that impacts people not believing in bullshit, then fuck everyone who let that happen.

People who got sick after the first shot, how quickly did you feel the symptoms? How long did it last ?
By LunaticNotFounder Go To PostIt's the next day and lasts 24hours then it's gone. For me, it happened three days later and continued for 48 hours.
It's different for different people.

Bold prediction time. It's going to go tits up in August with that new variant and people returning from their holidays.

I should be receiving 2nd dose of AZ in about 10 days. Waiting 12 weeks for the 2nd dose is too much -_-

Surprisingly, vaccination is going at a nice pace, we are even sending some vaccine shipments to neighbor countries for easy political points.
There are 4 types of vaccines available: Sinopharm, Sputnik, Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
Most of the population has been vaccinated by Sinopharm. There are also enough doses of Pfizer and AZ that you can get an appointment in a few days.
Also, it seems that we will soon start manufacturing Sputnik locally at the Batut Institute.

Apparently my brother has it, he's young enough but hopefully there's no long covid effects from it :/

I'm glad I can help, but, hopefully, I'll be moving out of the country in the next 2 years max, but that's another topic...

LA keeping the standard mask policy in place until June 15th
Good move tbh. Leaves more time for full vaccinations and hopefully accounts for kids and immune deficient people

I hate individualistic colonizers like this person. How much effort do you think it took for me to not respond appropriately?

By Not Go To PostMy condolences on having to see your family, Pac
Yeah, shit sucks. But when those assholes at the CDC and then the bastards in North Carolina followed along in easing mask requirements, had to go ahead and get it done as soon as possible.
That said, going by the "2 weeks to fully vaccinated" rule, I can still safely miss the family gathering scheduled for 5/30.
"Look, mah, it's not me, it's science."
btw if you got the J&J its actually 4 weeks
edit: I think 2 weeks is still the official guideline but 4 weeks is recommended

I'll go with the 4, thanks for the heads up. You're the man, diehard.
For the record, go Jazz (in the WC, courtesy of Quin Snyder, no promises if Kyrie's Nets make the Finals).
